As you can probably tell, my name is Annette Allen.
Public Safety Dispatch
I am the Communications Manager for Oxnard Police/Fire Communications in Oxnard, California, USA. Since I have been a Public Safety Dispatcher for a long time, and have also been heavily involved in training for quite awhile, I thought I would share a little about my chosen field with you.
Genealogy
Another one of my interests is genealogy. When I was first taught history, it was not presented in a very interesting manner. I have spent most of my life thinking that I did not want to learn much more. Fortunately, I had a college instructor that began telling stories about real people who just happened to be part of the recorded history about whom society thinks we ought to know. My interest was further sparked by learning about real people that share a genealogical line with me. Doing genealogical research has taught me about much more than just family lines.
Costuming
When describing myself, I mostly think of terms like "conservative". Fortunately for me, I have had friends who were willing to encourage me to do some "different" things. One of those things was going to the Renaissance Faire. I now make costumes for my husband, myself and even my granddaughter. This picture shows my husband and my then one-year-old granddaughter.
Helena
My daughter Helena (the grandchild's mother) recently asked if she could have a web page attached to mine; so here it is!
