Q:        Is RodBall available for Mac computers or for Palm Pilots?

A:        No, not at this time.

Q:        I’m running an old version of Excel.  Can I still use RodBall?

A:        Sure, just specify in your order what version of Excel you are using.  If you do not specify, RodBall will be sent in Excel 2000 format.

Q:        Is RodBall password-protected?

A:        Yes.  This protects the programs from being accidentally corrupted.  The user does not need to be concerned about changing a formula or cell content.  It just can’t happen.  Note that although the individual worksheets are password-protected, the workbook itself is not.

Q:        How does RodBall compare with other ballistics programs?

A:        Due to its spreadsheet format, RodBall is extremely intuitive and easy to use.  I have compared the results of RodBall with at least eight other ballistics programs.  While most ballistics programs vary slightly in their outputs, RodBall seems to be near the middle of the pack in terms of output.  In addition, RodBall calculates many other items that most ballistics programs do not, e.g. the effects of canting the firearm, the effects of shooting uphill or downhill, firearm recoil, the cost of reloading cartridges, statistical analysis of bullet velocities, and much more.

Q:        What is your background?

A:        I am a registered Professional Engineer in the State of California, a life-long woodworker, a novice machinist and gunsmith, a recreational varmint shooter, a veteran hand-loader, a member of Varmint Hunter Magazine’s 500 Yard Club, and RodBall webmaster.
