These are the amazing lights from the Luminarie festival held in Kobe, Japan. The festival is held every December to memorialize those lost in the city's devastating 1995 earthquake, and it symbolizes the restoration, reconstruction, and healing of Kobe. The lights were donated by the Italian government, and each light was indiviually hand-painted. The lights are displayed for about two weeks and turned on for only a few hours each evening. Thanks, Mami, for sharing these awesome pix!
