Importance of a Bio

An Arist’s Bio is the most important piece in any press kit, and every band needs a press kit. You may think that as a musician, your music is the most important representation of you. That is not entirely true. Here’s why: if you hope to get a journalist’s interest to do a review of a live show, or you hope to get a record label to be interested in you, you have to send them a good press kit. The more professional it looks, the better for you. The backbone of this kit is your bio. It needs to be interesting, clear and concise, and answer the "5 W’s," (who, what, when, where and why).

A Publicist will know how to get across everything you want to express about yourself in an organized way that will tell the reader what they need to know. Your bio should always be up to date, and should not dwell on things from the past that are not still relevant.

$100 Bios
How this works:

I require 1/2 down, and the other half of payment upon completion. I have a maximum 3 day turnaround. I may complete your bio faster, but I guarantee to complete it within 3 (business) days (weekends excluded). I have a Pay Pal account, so you can use your debit or credit card. We can do this entire transaction via email. (My phone number is not listed on this site anymore because of too many calls, but once you contact me via email, I’ll give it to you if you wish to speak with me.)

***First, after I receive your downpayment, I send you a list of questions that you are required to answer in order for me to write your bio.

***Second, when I receive your answers, I will complete a draft within 3 days and I will email it to you for you to review. If you want to make any changes, we will then edit the bio draft. After the changes are made, I will email you the final document.

***Lastly, you are required to make the final payment via Pay Pal within 24 hours of receiving the final draft.

I have been writing professional bios since 1998. Obviously, this is an honor system that I created so that we are both comfortable. I have been working with bands since 1999, and I am taking a gamble that you and your band are honorable people who will make the final payment as agreed upon.

*If the questions I give you are not answered with enough detail, I may want to call you to discuss. Some of you may be able to express yourself better on the phone than via email. I will communicate with you in the manner you are most comfortable, but I do prefer email; as I find it to be the quickest and most accurate way for me to get my job done.

What should be in a press kit:
1. Bio
2. Photo
3. CD
4. Press clippings/ reviews if you have them

First of two payments. $50 + 3% transaction fee = $51.50 each payment.
