How much does hiring a Publicist usually cost?  Well, I've done a lot of research on this subject in order to come up with competitive rates and to be able to work with young bands who don't have a lot of money. I will customize a package for each band I work with depending on their needs and goals. COMPETITOR #1 RATES General Campaign Fees: $50/hour plus expenses Minimum: 10 hours per month ($500/month plus expenses) Recommended: 25 hours per month ($1250/month plus expenses) Contractual Terms: 3 months and up Minimum: 3 months Recommended: 6-12 months Effective publicity campaign terms are generally 6-12 months. Options ~ Other hourly plans available: $750/month (15 hours), $1000/month (20 hours) ~ PR can be retained on a monthly basis with a retainer fee of $2000/month. This retainer offers up to 44 hours per month including 4 free hours beyond 40. Clients are billed on a monthly basis for expenses incurred on their behalf. With this campaign, expenses are for mailing costs only. ~ We also work on a per project basis. Call us for fees. Payment Terms One month retainer deposit is required upon contract signing. Retainer payments to are due on the first of each month during the contractual term. Expenses for the month are billed on or around the first day of the following month. Our services are as follows: Local CD release: 18 hours over 6 weeks at a rate of $45.00/hr plus expenses. print press including fanzines and magazines local college/commercial radio e-zines/on-line reviews National CD release (USA only): 5 weeks, 24 hours at a rate of $45.00/hr plus expenses. 75 national print outlets and fanzines appropriate to music style 25 national music websites and e-zines 3-10 radio syndicates (95 stations or more) Tour Support /Promotion (USA): 3 hours per gig/city at a rate of $45.00/hr plus expenses. advancing gigs with booker contacting press outlets /local radio sending out press kit AT LEAST 6 weeks prior to tour start date to insure proper pre-gig promotion sending out CDs to radio stations for on-airs and possible radio play in-stores Monthly retainers are available by special arrangement. Retainers are used by bands to maintain their visibility either locally or nationally to help co-ordinate gigs and tours, pitch publishers or indie labels. Monthly retainers start at $300.00/month.
