FRANCES JOHNSON

BELLA BELLA

Pastel, 40" x 30"

In commenting on her work, she says:

"My work is a record of visual experiences that reflect the relationships between people close to me, the emotional security of a familiar room, and the peace and inspiration found in my environment. I am involved in the hope to make relevant these everyday experiences. To depict on paper the desire to capture the essence of these experiences."

Her career includes many invitational exhibitions including the Water Color Invitational at the National Academy of Design in New York and the prestigious "25 California Women Artists" exhibit at the Lytton Center of Visual Arts in Los Angeles, and a solo exhibition at the respected Santa Barbara Museum of Art.

Johnson has shown her work in a great many juried exhibitions and has received, among other awards, the Purchase Award from the Atkinson Gallery at Santa Barbara City College, first award at the 49th annual California National Water Color Society, and first award at the California State Fair.
