| As a nationally recognized twentieth century California painter,
Dorsey's work has been in auctions alongside early California Masters of plein air painting.
Premier collectors of
California art own his paintings. Dorsey is a 1960 graduate of the Famous Artist Course,
Westport, Connecticut. He is currently a resident of Ojai, California and Red Mountain via
Homer, Alaska. He was influenced and inspired by Sydney Laurence and the early California
Impressionist. Painting oil landscapes primarily of California and Alaska, Dorsey travels
extensively. He has painted, shown and published in: Stowe, Vermont; Taos, New Mexico;
Sun Valley, Idaho; Jackson Hole, Wyoming; as well as California and Alaska.
The following is his own rendition of his resume. "William B. Dorsey artist, homesteader, pilot, fisherman, inventor, composer, etc. My father went to Harvard, my mother went to Wellesley, my brother went to Berkeley, and my sister went to Smith. I went to Alaska in a plane I bought for $1200.00." |
