OK... I'm NOT in the business of selling parts... I repair equipment
in California and have been doing so for about 25 years now.
What this means is that over the years I've picked up parts here and
there, ordered extras when I needed parts, and stocked a rather
good selection of Ampex and MCI parts, as well as some material for
Otari tape recorders. So PLEASE understand if I don't get back to you right away...
This isn't my 'main' business, and I'm mighty busy fixing studio equipment as it is...
Some of the parts ARE cheap though... some are trade-ins that aren't
quite up to 'my' standards, I've some heads that have not too much life, but can get
you through a tough time for little money, and sometimes I get in a bunch of cards
all at one time and thus can sell them for a lot less than normal.
Also if you're 'shopping' for parts, trying to get the lowest price,
don't go wasting my time... what I have are tested cards
that actually work and are in good condition... and thus are likely NOT
the cheapest around. Search elsewhere for cheap parts. I may have spent
an hour or more getting the cards into the correct machine, then aligning and testing them,
making sure they are up to standard. Time equals money.
I do NOT have:
>< ANY consumer tape recorder parts... please don't ask...
>< Revox A77 or B77 parts
>< Studer Parts
>< Ampex Tube Electronics (of ANY kind!) for sale
Also many of these parts are in short supply. I may not have all the parts listed anymore, and though I try to keep this list current, it does change, as do prices. Some parts I'm going to hold for my own local client repairs, some I just can't find anymore and when my stock is gone I won't likely get the chance to re-purchase those parts at any cost... Lastly... the cost of parts has skyrocked. Where I used to be able to buy a areospace or military grade switch for 10 bucks, that same switch now can cost 40 bucks, and that's if it's still manufactured. Plus my suppliers are no longer carrying large stocks of parts, and manufacturers aren't making parts they used to sell smaller quantities of. Oak (actually it's another company nowdays) will make the Original Ampex transport Switch for the MM 1100 / MM 1200 for $225 per switch !!! I used to be able to find these switches at reasonable prices. But I haven't been able to find one of these switches for the past 2 years, so when my stock is gone I have no idea where I'll be able to find any more at reasonable prices. Likely I'll have to track down a "lesser" quality switch rather than the Original Ampex switch.
