Senior Network Engineer 

-          Lead network engineering efforts internally (for Carta) and externally (for clients).

-          Internally defined policies, procedures, and standards for Carta’s network, hardware (servers, workstations, laptops and network equipment), systems (Internet/Intranet, e-mail, database), software development environment, disaster recovery, and security (firewall, VPN).

-          Defined and implemented policies, procedures, and standards to support Carta’s growth from 2 servers to 30.

-          Conducted network capacity planning to facilitate network infrastructure growth from 13 personnel to 140 in six months. 

-          Assisted in staffing network and software engineering from 5 to 40. 

-          Lead and managed team of five network engineers. 

-          Designed, Migrated and implemented Windows 2000 and Active Directory.

1997 –1999, Science Application International Corporation (SAIC), Sacramento, CA

Network Engineer

-          Supported system and network engineering efforts for several integration projects of SAIC developed applications

-          Designing a WAN to networking regional offices around the country together.

-          Configuring and implementing several Microsoft NT clusters to host the applications and an Oracle database. 

-          Developed scripts to cluster customized applications, which were not cluster aware.

-          Developed scripts to cluster Oracle 7.3.4 databases because of incompatibilities with the Oracle FailSafe product, which automates the clustering of Oracle databases. 

-          Developed and implemented disaster recovery procedures to ensure zero downtime of the entire system. 

-          Developed backup and recovery procedures to recovery the system to any point in time with minimal loss of data.

-          Technical Lead for Enterprise LAN/WAN installation, setup, configuration and administration of NT and BackOffice applications. 

-          Designed systems and network architecture of the Microsoft Windows NT platforms. 

-          Worked closely with software engineers, hardware technicians and database administrators to implement a migration and integration project of mainframe applications to the NT platform. 

-          Performed technical studies and simulations of proposed development efforts to integrate COTS, GOTS applications and network technologies into existing and new systems to ensure compatibility and reliability of the new design.  From these studies and simulation I helped developed procedures, policies, strategies, and schedule to install and maintain NT servers and NT workstations.  These procedures decreased the installation time from 3 weeks to approximately 3 days, which resulted in company savings in technical labor costs.

-          Wrote several technical documents on NT server and client design, backup & restoration, disaster recovery, NT configuration and installation procedures.

-          Technical lead for firewall installation, configuration, and implementation into production.  Designed, configured and established LAN/WAN network, server and desktop security for an NT enterprise network.

-          Technical lead for a Microsoft Exchange Server enterprise installation, configuration, and implementation into production.  This environment consisted of over 4000 exchange users.
