is a nationwide Christian organization promoting friendship between all international students and Americans from local Christian churches. Internationals may participate in any aspect of ISI they choose without further obligation.ISI
Santa Cruz is American volunteers from local Christian churches (High Street Community, First Presbyterian, Santa Cruz Bible and others) who wish to have friendships respectful of cultural and religious differences.What We Do
ISI
Santa Cruz offers friendship to students and scholars at the University of California Santa Cruz and Cabrillo College in the following ways:
American Friendship Partners: A host family or individual meets monthly with an international student for friendship and maintains weekly contact by phone or e-mail. Suggested activities are: sharing a meal, practicing English, shopping, local sightseeing, attending family activities, hikes, playing sports, watching TV together, etc. --whatever is your mutual interest!
Airport pickups when students first arrive, temporary housing, and holiday dinners are other ways ISI Volunteers can help international students on a one-time basis.
ISI Furniture Give-Away Throughout the year, household items donated by volunteers are given free to international students /scholars.
Friendship Activities: parties, game nights, hikes, surfing lesson, etc. are put on by our ISI team to promote friendship.
International Curious Friends Bible study (also known as International Christian Fellowship) meets alternate Friday evenings
at a private home near UCSC campus., 6:30 dinner (free)/ 7:30-8:30 singing and lesson. We discuss Bible passages, emphasizing how to have a personal relationship with God through Christ.
Each person's opinions are respected. All international students/ scholars are welcome, whether you come for personal spiritual growth, academic curiosity, or just to make friends and practice your English!
