Storage
Divines come in many different storage configurations depending on the era of the rod and the rod's vendor.  Here are a few examples from my collection.  Sinclair's Book discusses this in more depth and contains many more examples.

The form case is basically a large wood dowel with grooves in it to accomodate pieces of the rod when not in use. The rod parts were held in place with a leather strap or some cord.   This was the standard storage concept of the late 1800's through about 1910.  Divine used several different designs, but the most common (and the best design) are round at one end and square at the other.  the square end is covered by a leather boot which keeps dirt out of the ferrules, and holds the rod parts in place thus eliminating one of the troublesome straps or ties.  Most Divine form cases are covered in velvet.

In bag and tip-tube storage there is bag with compartments for rod sections and one larger compartment for a tube.   The tube would hold the tips to protect them as well as reinforce the other rod sections in the bag.  The example at right is a later model with an aluminum tip tube.  Earlier examples used a length of bamboo with the dams broken out and fitted with a nice screw on cap.  The tip tube in the photo also has it's original labeled tip tube bag.

Tip Tube and Bag

The familiar bag and tube arrangement assumed many forms in Divines starting around 1920.  My favorite is in the top photo.  This is an oversized tube with an attractive rope knurled cap and a luxuriously thick velveteen bag.  It's very easy to insert and remove the rod sections and it has a rich feel.

The middle photo has a standard size tube with a diamond knurled nickel silver cap.  The tube still has it's label.  The bag is a light muslin.

The bottom photo is a late model Divine tube.  The tube labels had been replaced with the bag tag, and a middle weight canvas bag is used.
