  BLEND2TER TUTORIAL

IMPORTANT REMARK!

before beginning with this tutorial it is necessary to understand the Terrain and camera scripts!

Features of the Blend2Ter script   New

This script converts your Blender camera path in a Terragen animation file (tgs file).

Why could you ask?

Let's see....

Terragen animation scripts are usually made with Terramin or Campath. And those two programs are indeed the best for "Terragen only" animations.

With the terrain script of Ter2Blend it became possible to import a Terragen terrain file (ter file) in Blender and place objects into the scene. And it is also possible to make an animation with the camera script of Ter2Blend by importing a Terragen script file (tgs file) produced with Terramin or Campath.

But to obtain the maximum controle over your animated camera it would be logic to make your camera path in the Blender scene and then export this path as a tgs file into Terragen.

This is now possible with the Blend2Ter script.

It works like this
  1. Make your terrain in Terragen and save it as a ter file.

  2. Start Ter2Blend and import your ter file.

  3. Place your objects in the Blender scene.

  4. Animate your camera (make a camera path). Check your start and end frame in the render menu (F10).

  5. Select the Blend2Ter script in the text window and start it with alt P .
This script has no user interface and starts right away.
It will make a Blend2Ter.tgs file in the directory where Blend2Ter was loaded.

  6. You have to change the path in the tgs file if you don't want that Terragen put all the rendered frames in c:\temp (default setting of Blend2Ter).

Open the Blend2Ter.tgs file in an editor (e.g. notepad) and edit the first line:

    initanim,"c:\temp",1 in e.g. initanim,"d:\mydir",1

  7. With the Blend2Ter.tgs file you can render now all your background pictures with Terragen.

  8. Make use of the tgs file together with te camera script of Ter2Blend to complete your animation in Blender.
