December Edition - Golf and Sports for Seniors
Check here for latest updates between editions
Sorry about the World Series.....I some how lost my previous chart format and didn't have the time to set up a new one. I hope that I will be ready for the millennium so we can continue this popular contest next year.
Update September 1st - We are taking a little break on our 1999 Sports Event Championship. The next event will be the World Series in October. Plenty of time to get the line on your pick for the new baseball champ for 1999. Is it the Yankees who have a lock on it with all their (paid for)talent? Or do you believe in miracles.....Just maybe, our Athletics will sneak in and win it all! Look at last year's contest for how to go about winning points in the Series.

Section Two - Commentary and Current Articles With the new format for the opening page, my emphasis for golf will be keeping my readers up on the latest web sites. That isn't an easy job, because the number of new web sites is literally exploding in all subject areas. Along with new web sites, I want to identify some of the creative personal home pages on travel. So when you think of golf on the web, you should be thinking of the Oke Golf for Seniors Page.
April 1 - I am writing this a few days before April 1st and the weather is still lousy for golfers with cold mornings and rain on many days. For myself, a early golfer, this weather just doesn't appeal to me for playing golf. If you wonder how golfers in general feel on this subject, Golf Online has done a poll on the coldest weather that golfers would play golf. You can check out the results in Section Three below.
With the weather so lousy lately in Northern California and all those cold temps, some of us are not getting our weekly golf sessions in.....you know what that means! We get rusty and our game suffers from lack of attention. Well, I can't create a driving range on the web; but I have the next best thing: Golf lessons on the Web. Check out the following web sites:
If you need the real thing, here are some golf schools and camps in various parts of the country:

With all the excitement in baseball this season and the general interest in many sports among seniors, I have decided to expand this page to include all sports. Although, golf seems to be the favorite sport of SIR members, they also have a avid interest in other spectator sports. We have been featuring the 1998 Sports Contest with contests covering many major sport events; so from here on the name of this page will be: "Golf and Sports for Seniors". We will start off this new format with a permanent feature covering all the major Internet Sports Networks. In addition, we will be featuring some of the fascinating web sites that bring a broad range of coverage for sport fans.
