The next couple of months will see a different lineup of features for our Travel Page. This Page will start of with a Table of Contents. Some of the sections will have a separate page for easier availability.
A new feature starting this month will be Local Travel Distinations with it's own page. The idea is to feature local distinations for day trips or one-two night stays within 100-200 miles generally. It will take a few months to collect worthwhile web sites to feature on this new page.
To get the ball rolling, I want to highlight the Monterey Bay Aquarium, which opens the largest living deep-sea exhibit in the world(7,000 sq.ft.), "Mysteries of the Deep," on March 20th, 1999. The Aquarium's web site can be reached by clicking on the underlined title below:

I thought I would provide some great links for you to check the road conditions for any highway in California, along with a couple of other weather forecast links. If you are going to be traveling through snow areas, or want to check conditions if your relatives are driving; just click on the underlined titles below
If you travel to the Sierra for sking or Tahoe area, here is the site for US80. You will always have the latest highway bulletins on whether chains are required. You can also check Highway 50 by going to that site:

The holidays are over and it's a new year. This is the time when many of us make our travel plans for the next year. So I thought I would feature links to the top reservation web sites. These sites will handle all your reservation needs; air, hotel, rental car, as well as package travel deals and cruises. Take the time to check out each of the sites as each has their own areas of special interest to the traveler.

Here is a site worth checking out for airline, hotel and miscellaneous travel info and reservations. It is designed for the business traveler, but check it out and see what you think about the site:
The Wheelhouse
Here is a site referred to me by Al Altmann who just returned from a cruise in Europe. Al and La Vonne were scheduled to sail on the Inaugural Voyage of the Grand Princess; but, as most of us know, it didn't make it out of the ship yard in time for their scheduled dates. Al e-mailed me an attachment for The Wheelhouse Web Site which features news, review, bulletin boards and chat lines about cruising. Included in the reviews was the Inaugeral Cruise of the Grand Princess which sailed on May 25th out of Istanbul. It is a well written review and gives a good idea of what to expect on a first sailing of a new ship. This site looks like a good prospect for addition to our monthly sites.
