(Arrangement can be made to proctor the midterm and final examinations at an off-campus location for students who reside outside Southern California)

Accounting 1 and Accounting 2 are college-level accounting courses for Freshman and Sophomore students. The University of California, California State Universities, and other US colleges and universities give full credit for the course. Class Orientation is held on Saturday September 6, 2008( 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. for Accounting 1 and 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. for Accounting 2) at Los Angeles Harbor College, Science Building Room No. 112. Students residing outside Southern California and cannot the orientation, please contact me by e-mail.

The courses are conducted on-line through the Etudes web site. You can logon to Etudes web site when you enroll in the accounting class. Instruction to access the website is provided at the Saturday orientation.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Accounting 1: Students will learn the basic concepts and principles of financial accounting. The focus is on recording of business transactions and the preparation of financial statements using double-entry accounting and generally accepted accounting principles. Other topics covered are accounting systems,internal controls,cash, accounts receivables, inventories, fixed assets, intangible assets, current liabilities, payroll accounting,sole proprietorship, partnership and a brief introduction to corporation.

Accounting 2: Students will learn the basic concepts and principles of financial and managerial accounting. The focus is on financial transactions of corporations, managerial accounting and cost accounting. Topics covered are corporations, stocks and bonds, long-term liabilities, statement of cash flows, financial statement analysis, managerial accounting principles, budgeting, job order and process cost systems, cost behavior, standard costs and variances, cost-volume-profit analysis, differential analysis, product pricing, capital investment analysis.
