The Sire Line
Aurab

Back in the 1970s, when I was first involved with Arabian horses, there appeared a group of particularly good half-Arabians.  These horses dominated the show ring, winning championships but mostly being increadibly beautiful.  These horses were the first foals of Aurab to catch my eye.  A year or two later, a purebred son, was ridden in by Patience Prine.  This was Ben Rabba, the first of several Aurab horses to make his mark in the show ring.

The horses that actually received national attention were few, being overshadowed in number by those of the more 'popular' bloodlines, but they were memorable.  Magic Aurab showed the world that natural action and beauty beats out over intensive training.  (I understand he went to the nationals after being back with the trainer only two weeks following a long time off.)  Ben Rabba and his son Benraz continued the winning.  Aulrab made a brief but very successful career for himself.  His full brother, Hi Voltage, won many awards at all levels with Patience Prine aboard.

Other Aurab horses have come and gone.  Luckily, their legacy lives on and a new generation of Aurab line show horses are starting to make their mark.  Aurab is long gone, but his legacy lives on.

Below are some horses that have carried this blood.

Aulrab out of Alarieha by Galahas
Numerous championships in native costume, English, and driving.  Aulrab was chosen to be the key stallion for the Kellogg Heritage herd at Cal Poly in Pomona, CA before his untimely death at 19.  Luckily, he had many foals and is still siring through limited frozen semen stored in Canada.  Last owned by his breeder and lifetime friend, Sandy Warren  wpsahcmk@pacbell.net, and Dr. David Ward  threevalleysvet@telus.net .

Some of his foals:

Ibn Aulrab (x Haapey Pico)       and son
Ibn Aulrab has done well at shows, winning numerous sport horse in hand classes as well as winning in open halter and liberty.  He has several fine foals on the ground with many years ahead of him to increase his herd.  He belongs to Sharon and Rudy Simas in Prather, CA

Aur Mystique (x GF Silver Mystery) and son
Aur Mystique has headed up to Canada to stand with his co-owner, Dr. David Ward.  He a full brother to the multi-national champion of Austrailia, Aur Vanity.  Mystique is a true 16 hands of dynamic movement.  His foals have been exceptional and include Mystic Aulrab (shown above) who has been exported to South Africa to influence the Arabian breed in that country.

Aul Magic (x Magic Alarieha)

Aul Magic started his show career late (age 15 in 2000), but boy has he made his mark!  He started out by winning Region III reserve champion sport horse in hand.  He has since won in just about every class entered including Native Costume, Country English Pleasure, and Show Hack, but his real mark of distinction has been in dressage.  He was reserve national champion in two different levels of dressage!  All this at age 16.  He is owned by Sharon Byford-Ruth and Betsy Teeter of Legendary Arabians in Bakersfield, CA.

Aur Samari  (x Scimitar Leniah by Binis)
He shows the heavy Gulastra influence of his dam's side.

Ben Rabba

Probably the best known son of Aurab. A winner of many championships including champion stallion at the Grand National show in San Francisco.   His popularity was boosted when he was leased to England for two years, siring over 50 foals in that country.  While I don't have any photos of Ben Rabba himself, here are several of his get and their descendants.
