CUSTOM FAMOUS COVERS: PAGE ONE

CUSTOM FAMOUS COVERS MEPHISTO

PARTS LIST:

Body--Famous Covers Daredevil type-1 body.

Head--Famous Covers Wolverine face.

Forehead--cut from generic doll head.

Cape--from Famous Covers Thor.

Bodysuit and Belt--from Famous Covers Daredevil.

Boots--custom made.

Hair--inverted hair from generic doll head, cut to points.

Ears--from Famous Covers Green Goblin head

Loincloth--custom made.

...and SPECIAL THANKS to the inventors of Superglue, Exacto knives, and Dremel tools!

WHY I MADE THIS FIGURE: I thought it quite unlikely that Mephisto (in any way, shape, or form) would be released, since the lord of hell wouldn't suit the tastes of standard retail stores, so I figured I'd better make my own. I based the design of the figure mostly on the John Buscema version from his first appearence in Silver Surfer, which is one of the all-time greatest Marvel stories ever written, IMHO. To tell the truth, the body customizing was rather easy....it was the head and face that took the longest to complete, and the hair was a pain to get just right. Here's Marvel's lord of hell in all his custom Famous Covers glory...

CUSTOM FAMOUS COVERS DOCTOR OCTOPUS

PARTS LIST:

Body--Chubby body from Exclusive Premire's Grandpa Al Lewis figure (from the Munsters series).

Bodysuit--from a generic Soldiers of the World 12" figure, reversed.

Boot cuffs and wrist cuffs--custom made from Sparklets water bottle peel-off lids.

Potion accessory--from Star Trek 9" Bele' figure accessory.

Octopus arms--bendable arms from 10" Doc Ock figure.

...and SPECIAL THANKS to the inventors of Superglue, Exacto knives, and Dremel tools!

WHY I MADE THIS FIGURE: Doc Ock has always been one of my favorite Marvel villains (silly, but very cool) and up to this point I've never seen an action figure perfectly capture the character's likeness. It was most unlikely that Ock would ever be a Famous Covers figure, since he would need a hollow, chubby body type to fit his four mechanical arms into. So I decided to make my own, using the chubby Grandpa Al Lewis body from Exclusive Premiere's Munsters series. Costume-wise, I really wanted to avoid spandex...it just makes Ock look even more ridiculous. Instead, I went for the green radiation suit/doctors smock theme, while still incorporating his classic colors (green and orange) into the outfit. The resulting suit turned out quite well, I think. The toughest part was boring those four extra arm holes in the sides of the Grandpa Al Lewis body....that was thick plastic. But it all went rather well, and here's Doc Ock, as a custom Famous Covers figure....

CUSTOM FAMOUS COVERS BLACK CAT

PARTS LIST:

Body--Famous Covers Dark Phoenix body.

Head--Famous Covers Dark Phoenix.

Hair--from 12” Black Cat figure.

Black Bodysuit--from Famous Covers Black Widow.

Fur trim--Santa Claus fur trim, custom-cut.

Gloves and boots--from Famous Covers Falcon.

Mask--from 12” Black Cat.

Collar--5” Ghost Rider wristband.

Collar gemstones--fake gems, purchased.

Clawed fingertips--cut from Spider Powers 2 Doc Ock arms.

...and SPECIAL THANKS to the inventors of Superglue, Exacto knives, and Dremel tools!

WHY I MADE THIS FIGURE: You just gotta love Black Cat....Felicia Hardy is a wonderful character, and I loved her first costume from Amazing Spider-Man....very 70’s, but very sexy at the same time. Plus, the FC series desperatly needs more Spidey characters, and Felicia seemed to be a nice way to use up the leftover white fur trim from my Sabretooth custom! Truthfully, this wasn’t a very difficult custom, just time-consuming. Here’s the little kitten, in all her custom FC glory...
