SandPit began with two veterans of the San Francisco music scene. Steven Pitsenbarger and Gabriel Sandino have been performing and recording together since 1993. After roles in Machine Shop and The Krinkles, the duo decided to form their own sound. With their sound hanging out in the neighborhood of Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, and Elliott Smith, SandPit began in 1998 playing open mics and small cafes. The band grew later that year with the addition of Kathy Buys on violin. More expansion came in 1999 when drummer Enrique Sepulveda joined to fill out the current line-up.

SandPit released their self titled CD in 1999. Their new CD Lifeline is now available.

Steven Pitsenbarger - vocals, bass, saxophone

Steven is a San Francisco native who hails from a large and musical family. Mom, four sisters, and a brother all shared in a deep love of music. "I get just as excited to perform now as I did performing for the family in pajamas in the living room."

Gabriel Sandino - guitar, backing vocals

Gabriel is a busy man these days. In addtion to playing in SandPit, he also performs with San Francisco bands Sangano and the recently signed Los Mocosos. Look for Gabriel on tour in your town soon.

Kathy Buys - violing, backing vocals

Kathy was an unexpected, but welcome addition to the band. She called Steven after seeing a drummer wanted ad the band had placed and asked, "Have you ever considered adding violin?" Kathy has classical training and still performs in an orchestra when she isnt busy with SandPit.

Enrique Sepulveda - drums

Enrique comes to the band all the way from the country of Chile. After playing in many pop and rock bands in Chile, he decided to come to San Francisco for a change of scenery. Enrique is still working on his English but he speaks drum very well.
