My name is David Baumann. I live in Placentia, California, a pleasant suburban city of 46,000 in north Orange County, about 30 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles. I have been a fairly serious collector of series books since 1995. During this time I have put together a complete collection of sixteen series--about 250 books. I also like to write, and have combined these two interests in this web site.
The site is dedicated to the X Bar X Boys series, not because it is my favorite series (it isn't), but because it appears that, in spite of many other terrific web sites dedicated to various series books and series subjects, no one else I know of has taken a serious look at the X Bar X Boys. The series merits some attention, for there are some excellent qualities and fine writing in it. I hope you will enjoy the site, and will welcome your comments, including suggestions for improvement.
The series I've collected are the original Hardy Boys (through volume 40); the Tom Swift, Jr.'s; the Hal Keens; the Ken Holts; the Rick Brants; the X Bar X Boys; the Tom Corbetts; the Tom Quests; the Dig Allens; the Don Sturdys; the Roger Baxters (thanks to Jim Towey's reprints); the ten books by Troy Nesbit/Franklin Folsom; the Tim Pennys (again, thanks to Jim Towey's reprints); the Tom Slades; the Skippy Dares; and the twenty-one books by Capwell Wyckoff. I have a few volumes from other series also, but am not driven to collect the sets from which they come.
My enjoyment of series books is indebted to many others, particularly Fred Woodworth, Jim Towey, James Keeline, Cam Jancek, Rocco Musemeche, Jon Cooper, Alex Van Zelfden, Jim Ogden, Tom Davis, and many other collectors and booksellers.
