Sunroof Adjustment
To disengage the sunroof lining you first need to be able to move the
sunroof back about halfway (if it won't go back that far, uhh... well I guess
first see if it can:). Then to see the screws you need to remove, you kind of
have to stick your head down into the sunroof opening a bit, looking towards
the back of the car. The screws screw horizontally towards the back of the car.
If you stick your head down into the sunroof opening a bit, you should be able
to see their heads looking back at you (the heads will be pointing towards the
front of the car). If I remember correctly there are three of them, and they
are phillips. You would probably want to use a magnetic screwdriver if you have
one, just makes it easier to pull them out once they are unscrewed (so you
don't drop them down between the seats or anything. Or they could slip
backwards into the sunroof liner a bit, which means you just have to fish them
out with pliers).
Anyway, after removing those three screws, the liner can be pulled out through
the sunroof opening (or just pushed straight back, which *might* give you
enough access). To really be able to pull the liner out easily, you might need
to have the sunroof 2/3 open. Once you get it out, you should be able to see
the hex bolts that are in the far rear of the sunroof "bay". There
should be two on each side, near each other. In my case, the sunroof had
apparently been messed with at some point, and someone didn't bother putting
all four back in, only one on each side. That meant that it would sit way too
low when closed. Anyway, assuming yours has those bolts in there, loosen them a
bit. Then hold the sunroof all the way up while you tighten them back up (this
is a lot easier with a helper. I think I ended up holding it up on one side
with one hand, on the other with my head, while using my other hand to tighten
the bolts. Ugh).
