Format and Installation Instructions
Windows 95b, 98, 98SE, and WinME

***You will need a working Startup Boot Disk for this operation***
If you don't have one........
A Better Boot Disk

1) You should have general knowledge of the procedures in the instructions that follow.
(You should NOT attempt Formatting and Reinstalling using these instructions as your only guide.) You could be without a choice but to call support for "FEE" based instructions. It's very nice to have access to a second computer, (Most public libraries have internet access.) so you can ask about what you did wrong.

2) Don't you feel confident now?

3) Make sure that you have all Disks and CDs needed to reinstall your hardware. (Modem, Sound and Video Cards, Mouse, ZIP, Printer, Etc........)You will need the "Windows 95 Intel Support Disk", (Mine is Ver.A00) for PII systems.
( Win95 and higher - Intel drivers download)

4) You have backed up all your files; Right?
(Passwords,DUN settings,E-Mail,Contact list,Bookmarks, Favorites, Etc..)

5) Pop in the "startup boot disk", and restart your system. This disk will basically insure that your CD-ROM Drivers work. If your CD drive letter is D type, DIR E: and press Enter. You should see the contents of whatever CD you have in.

6) CD works OK? Good

When you get to the A:\>prompt,

This is your last chance to turn back.

7) Type in "FORMAT C:" no quotes, and press enter. Are you SURE? You will lose ALL Data on your hard drive. OK?
Tell it to do it.

(For complete FDISK instructions go Here)

8) When the format is complete........

9) If scan disk wants to run, let it unless you are absolutely sure your hard disk is OK.

10) Put your Windows CD in and at the A:\>prompt type " D:WIN95\ " and press enter.
( For Windows 98 use " D:WIN98\ " )
( If you choose to have more than one partition change D to your CD-ROM drive letter. )
( If you are using a Win98 boot disk your CD letter will be pushed back one letter. )
Type "SETUP.EXE" and press enter.

I Would suggest that you install ALL the options that Windows 95 offers. Do what you want though.

OK Boys and Girls, Almost done......

12) When Windows starts up it will (Hopefully) find and install all your hardware. Along the way it will ask for some of your driver disks, and CDs.

When you finally restart without Windows finding something.
Install the "Windows 95 Intel support Drivers".
Then, Install the USB software off the Windows95 CD.
Then, Install the "Windows 95 Intel support Drivers" again.

Thought I missed 11 didn't you??? Just checking :o)

Install your software and you should be set.

Read through ALL the above instructions, If you are unsure about something ASK and UNDERSTAND before proceeding.

And may God have mercy on your soul.
Amen
