Just who is this Danny Ford?
I have always had this keen interest in computers since about 1984 when
a friend asked me over to look at "this TV-like gadget" in her garage. That
gadget turned out to be a Tandy TRS-80. Read the book on it from cover to
cover. Needless to say, I was hooked. My fondness of computers
carried over to my job. I've worked for AT&T going on 28 years now. I like to think that one of the prerequisites
for employment there is adapting to change. Ever since Divestiture back in
1984 (same year of the "TV-like gadget") changes became a frequent
occurrance.
I am the father of two. A twenty five year old daughter,
Jade, and a eighteen year old son,
Brandon who has developed his computer skills by peeking over my shoulders the last eight years. Jade showed very little interest in the beginning and now is well on her way to becoming a serious "power user".
It's basically through my kids that I came up with the idea of a page that
focused on young African Americans, although anyone could find some value
in the information at hand. I recently heard where Blacks were referred to
as "road kill" on the information superhighway due to the small numbers that
actually take part in cyberspace. But I, and others like me, are out to change
that!
