ALC 3 Day 4...

Day 4

The mid point of the ride. Riders celebrated the half-way mark at a scenic pull-out on the top of a huge hill looking over the beautiful rolling hills of the Cambria region in front of the "Half Way To L.A.!" sign. I'm just way too slow to stop yet today I bested two really big hills called "The Evil Twins". This was another long day--a "Century." While the rider map said the route was 98.7 miles, our odometers said it was over 100! The weather cooperated once again. Remember I told you we have a celebraty rider this year? Tracy Chapman is a rider on this event, she has been out there pedaling with the best of us. Even after the LONG day of riding, she agreed to perform. She sang several songs, including Give Me One Reason, Talkin'Bout A Revolution, and Stand By Me, all to our tremendous delight.

Day 5

Today was the shortest day on the ride, a little over 40 miles. The weather was cooperative, cool and breezy. Day 5 is "Red Dress Day." Hundreds of riders donned red dresses of all shapes and sizes, all styles and all levels of taste (!). Others wore red jerseys. Don't know how this tradition got started. Riders climbed hills in everything from red tutus to cocktail dresses and teddies! the poses in front of Vandenberg AFB were hilarious. Check the slideshows below.
