PKO members:

In an effort to solidify our relationship with the community of Avila
Beach, we are going to participate in several Avila
Farmer/Fish Market events that happen on Friday nights through the
summer. See attached file that describes what our participation would
involve.

Mike S. and I are handling the first one--this Friday night. See email
below that describes what our participation will be--it includes a
visit by King Neptune, aka Pete Kelley.

Jeff B is handling the July 7 event--the jr. program will be underway,
and he'll be getting several kid's to participate.

Sept 1 and Sept 22 are being handled by myself and Jill U.

Anyone wanting to take responsibility for one of these other dates can
call me to commit to a particular date. Please step up to this--we are
hoping that this responsibility gets spread around throughout the
club, rather than resting on the shoulders of a few folks.

Regarding this Friday night, we need 7 folks, dressed in race jerseys,
to escort Neptune to the shore--a couple of these folks will be on
shore making sure that the surf is clear of swimmers, as we are
landing on the east side of the Avila Pier. So far I think we have 4
people that have said they'd participate in this. Anyone else
interested can contact Mike S. or myself.

Also, after we deliver Neptune, we will be wheeling the canoe up to
front street, where we will have it on display for the Farmer/Fish
Market. We'll have a table, the DVD of the last year's kids program
running on a TV screen, and hopefully several Pale Kai members, in
race jerseys, hanging out by the table, talking to people about
outriggers, our club, etc.

After the Farmer's market, we may get a beer and/or a meal down in Avila.

Potential paddlers need to be helping move a canoe down to the shore
at 5:00 pm--again if you are interested, let Mike S. or me know. And
additional club members would be welcome to hang out at the Pale Kai
"booth" to talk to folks about our club.

Thanks,
Dave VM
