Analysis, design, specification, project management, network engineering and security, DR/BC planning and implementation, user training, and technical writing on a consulting basis for several firms in the Los Angeles and Orange County areas 

·         For a financial firm, designed and implemented a multi-site secure VPN-connected network infrastructure for branch offices

·         For a major LA medical center, performed DR/BC planning, intrusion testing and monitoring,  and backup/restoration duties

Network/Systems Engineering and Project Management in the Operations group of an Internet-based gaming company

·         Designed, implemented, and supported a low-latency ultra-secure multi-layer web-based application platform

Implemented, corrected, and supported multiple Sun server farms interconnected via Cisco routers and switches for an online game company, utilizing burstable T-3 lines running frame relay 

·         Maintained and improved DNS tables supporting multi-homed web and FTP servers on multiple UNIX versions.  Supported Shiva dial-up, GroupWise electronic mail/scheduling groupware on NetWare 4.11 servers, and key fob reader physical security systems

·         Worked with Cisco ACLs, VLANs, and authentication/profile security features, and monitored for intrusions

At Candle Corporation in Santa Monica, performed network support and design work 

·         Performed product evaluations, standards and procedure design, and advanced network, PC, and mini troubleshooting

3/89 to 3/95 – Network Support Engineer

Home Savings of America, Irwindale, Ca.

Increasingly responsible network support and design positions, culminating in the Technology Assessment group and management of a six person Technical Support team responsible for 70-plus Novell servers, 20-plus LAN Server devices, and assorted other systems.  Duties included:

·         Coordinated installation of Cisco equipment, wiring plant and workstations with selected vendor and other company departments

·         Planned and managed move of 250-node, six server LSC Network from Pasadena to Irwindale corporate campus
