Currently the station is running in "test mode" using a ShoutCast server. When, and if, WebCast9 goes "live" the methods of connecting to the station will probably change. Hopefully, at that time, connecting to the station will b simpler. To connect to WebCast9 under the test configuration, follow these steps:
WINDOWS USERS:
Although Windows MediaPlayer may work by entering "http://64.171.237.197:8000" into the Open URL dialog box, we suggest you download and install the WinAmp Player by clicking on the logo, below (We suggest you select the "Live" version).
Once installed, to connect, simply right click on the bar at the top of the viewer and select "Play" and then select "Location". Enter "http://64.171.237.197:8000" into the edit control.
After connecting, you can right click on the top bar, again, select "Bookmarks", and select "Add current as bookmark". Since the bookmark will name the bookmark after the currently playing song (in error), you can then go back in and edit the bookmark to read "WebCast9".
After you've added WebCast9 to your Bookmarks, simply run WinAmp, right-click the top bar and select "Bookmarks" and select WinAmp from your bookmarks.
You can also download Bahá'í oriented Winamp skins featuring the International Archives Building, an eagle statue, a terrace garden, the Shrine of Baha'u'llah, and the Seat of the Universal House of Justice.
MAC USERS:
You can probably use the built in player by just entering in the URL below, however, if you wish to use an enhanced player, download and install the Audion Player by clicking on the logo below...
Connect to "http://64.171.237.197:8000".
Once you've connected to the station, via the internet, you might want to consider "broadcasting" the station throughout your house, office, Bahá'í Center or School. There are two methods you can use to get WebCast9 out of the computer and into your stereo, PA or other sound system.
You can run wires from the back of your computer to your stereo or public address system. You will need a mini-stereo plug on one end and either RCA, phono or other appropriate connectors at the other end to patch the left and right channels. If you are unsure about this connection, someone at a local computer or audio equipment shop should be able to help you determine the appropriate setup.
You can re-transmist WebCast9 up to 300 meters using a low-cost, low-power FM transmitter (legal in most parts of the world). One benefit to this method is that you can listen to WebCast9, or any audio output from your computer, throughout your home, backyard, office, Centre or school by simply tuning in, on any standard FM radio. Another benefit is that your neighbors might also be able to pick-up your rebroadcast, if they wish to listen to the station, without having to connect to the web.
For more information about this option, please, click here. We recommend the Stereo Low Power (50mw) Transmitter -- this is sufficient for most applications. A slightly different option can be found, here. Check with your local, state or national government to verify that use of such a transmitter is legal in your area. Please, make sure you're not interfering with existing stations, in your area, however, if you elect to go this route. You may be violating any number of laws, by doing so.
