The Federal Home Loan Bank Cost of Funds Index for the 11th District

The latest index value was 5.196% for May 2000 as announced on 30 June 2000.

This page contains monthly weighted average Cost of Funds (CoF) index for 11th District savings institutions. The index is calculated every month by The Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco. The Federal Home Loan Bank is sometimes confused with the Federal Home Loan Bank Board, to which it is related, and is abbreviated FHLBB. The FHLB now has its own page listing the CoF Index. The latest index can also be obtained by calling 888-396-2634.

The index is plotted above. (I update the plot only every six months or so.) A listing of the index for its entire history would be huge. I have, therefore, broken down the index by year. Following the links below will lead you to the index for that year.

The column on each page labeled "Date" is the date for each index value. Note that the FHLB announces the index on the last working day of the month following the month listed. Therefore, the last index available is for May 2000 which was announced on 30 June 2000. The next index will be announced on 31 July 2000 after 3 PM Pacific time. The "Index, %" column is the index value in percent for the month.

The first official index value is for July 1981. It seems that some lenders are quoting index values from before this time, but these were not published by the Federal Home Loan Bank. They are, therefore, not included.
