I have quite a few more pairs of combat/military boots.
Plus lots of all kinds of boots. (Except cowboy-- They don't do much for me.)
My newest major boots are my 20 inch Whites Buffalo lineman boots.
Normally, these come only up to 16 inches tall.
I special ordered them at 20 inches, which involved making custom leg patterns.
Unlike my Wescos, there are not full custom. Whites measured me up as fitting their standard 14.5 EE last.
My Whites have screwed-on Vibram deep lugs, and a triple sole.
They haven't really been broken in yet. Would you like to help?
Although both these and my Whites were ordered as 20 inches, Wesco measures the height including the heel,
while Whites does not. So, the Whites are considerably taller.
I've had these for years now. They are very nicley worn in, but nowhere near worn out.
These are the first pair of Wescos I bought, 20 inch Highliners.
They were made to measure and custom fitted, which I highly recommend to anyone ordering Wescos.
They were perfectly comfortable right out of the box, without any break-in.
My Wescos are big and wide. I guess I should have worn them when I test
drove my car (then again, that might have frightened the salesman...). So, until I can figure out how to move
the brake pedal an inch to the left, I have to work the gas with the tip of my toe.
I have other pairs of Wescos, too...
The ones on the left are 12 inch Boss with an inside zipper and velcro flap. I found them on the orphan
boot rack at Stompers in San Francisco.
The ones on the right are Wesco western harness boots, also Stompers orphans.
The middle pair are my custom made Wesco Boss, made from the same measurments as my Highliners.
They were supposed to be 20 inches, but came out a little taller. They dropped
down a bit as they broke in, but I still usually leave the topmost strap
loose to freely bend my knee. They have a generous fit at the calf, so
I can wear them over my chaps.
They have a custom side patch to protect the boot from things like
motorcycle shift levers, or overly aggressive boot pigs.
I'd been thinking of getting some Redwood leather Wescos for some time.
Then I found these 12" steel-toe Jobmasters in the back room at Stompers.
I just had to have them! They were made to measure for a customer who returned them to Wesco, saying they were too small.
They are unmarked, but Wesco says they are a 15 Wide. Anyway, they fit me great!
I only had them a couple of hours before they got baptized on the patio of the Lone Star Saloon!
These are my tall Chippewa engineer
boots. They're not as tall as the Wescos, at about 17 inches, but still a hot boot.
They have a leather lining and steel toes.
Unfortunately, the largest size they came in was a 14D, which is just a tad small for me,
so they can get a little uncomfortable after a while (but it's worth it!).
They're also a rather tight over the calf, even with the straps open, so I usually need help to get them off.
I had these Crotch-High boots made to measure last year by
Nick's Custom Boots in Toronto, Canada.
They are not really equal to Wesco Big Boss, but cost quite a bit less, and are well made.
They are about 32 inches tall, leather lined, with Vibram deep lug soles.

It's important to have the right height engineer boot for each occasion!
Woof! I actually have two pair of these, with slightly different sole types. So, since they were
too tight, I decided to give them away to some guy in Switzerland. Sometimes
I wish I still had them, though.. But I have a lot more work boots.

But then I got these, and the Wescos now have some serious competition....
These are Hi Point Pro GP motocross boots made by Alpinestars. What can you say?
Leather.
Metal.

I've got an old, well worn and beat-up pair of Hipoints, too.
These are not quite as tall, but are roomier. They have solid metal buckles.
These have been resoled at least once, and even the replacement sole is all chewed up.
I'd love to find a pair of the older style, with leather straps instead of buckles, big enough to fit me!
I've got other motocross boots as well.
These are my Sidi MX boots. Notice all the rubber knobbie things for the bootboy to play with.
These lace up inside, then close up outside with velcro.
I like work boots, too...
particularly old, well worn ones.
They go great with Levis.
These boots were a little small for me-
They were only a size 13D, so I really had to stuff my big feet into them.

These are some of my favorite workboots.
They are Matterhorn Search and Rescue boots, size 15 XW. They have steel toes,
a metatarsal guard built-in, and the rubber 'Tiger Tip' toe caps. Today, Matterhorn sells
a boot likes these, but with a Goretex upper, as the search and rescue boot. The all-leather
ones are now sold as a miner's boot.
This old, beat-up pair is mine. A friend loaned me a brand-new pair
to break in for him. After a couple of months of heavy wear, they looked more worn-out
than my old ones!
