Tetrahedron Machines
Frank Hausman
Printer-friendly page
The Tetrahedron Machine is the simplest Platonic solid brought to life as a dynamic mechanism. This polyhedron has four corners, four sides, and six edges which are made of air cylinders connected by flexible joints. Extending and contracting these cylinders changes the shape and volume of the Tetrahedron in interesting ways. The Tetrahedron Machines were conceived to be interactive sculptures controlled by humans or computer.
