For the 6 - 8 year old Ukulele & You (5 classes, 45 minutes each class) The soprano ukulele is a wonderful first string instrument for all children. The scale is more appropriate for a child than a guitar and more pleasurable to learn. The small fret board and nylon strings are easy for small hands to manage, and the skills are directly transferable to later guitar study. Students will learn to tune their instrument, play notes and chords, learn some music theory, and master a variety of songs. While the children will learn the history of the instrument and some traditional Hawaiian music, they will also learn folk and modern classics that everyone can enjoy at a family sing-along. |
