Listen as your child astonishes you with his newfound ability to create musical compositions. Kindermusik for the Young Child provides a pressure-free, developmentally appropriate transition to musically succeed before taking on more formal instruction. Young Child provides the opportunity to explore voice development and solfege, rhythm, notation, musical symbols, and composition.

Children will learn to play keyboard, string and woodwind instruments individually and in ensemble groups. Kindermusik for the Young Child has 4 semesters of curricula for children age 5 - 7 years of age. Along with the CD's, songbooks, weekly handouts, manipulatives, and carry bag, children will receive a glockenspiel for semesters 1 and 2, a dulcimer for semester 3, and a recorder for semester 4. They will have the opportunity to concurrently study on keyboards throughout the Young Child program.

In Young Child semester's 1 and 2 children receive their own glockenspiel to use at home while in class they play glockenspiels and keyboards. They learn about and play all the instrument families with a special emphasis on percussion and keyboard instruments.
   
       

In Young Child semester 3 children receive a dulcimer kit that allows them to put together, decorate, and play their own dulcimer. As they learn about the string family they also have the opportunity to play zither, celtic harp, banjo, guitar, violin, and autoharp.
 
 
 

In Young Child semester 4 children continue their studies in music theory and notation while learning new musical selections to play on glockenspiel, keyboard, and dulcimer. They receive a recorder and learn to play it while studying the woodwind and brass family of instruments. Throughout the Young Child curricula children also sing, dance, and use pretend play and dramatics to learn musical concepts and develop a sense of community with the other children in the class.
