Help me pull the weeds!

Rebecca was Alfred Muir Stanley's second wife.  I suppose it is normal in genealogy; I have been bouncing off a brick wall on Alf. M.'s ancestry then, as soon as I make one connection on his second wife, I get several generations from the web in two hours and with help from Dann Norton.

The family notes said she was Rebecca Sandlir but I noticed that the 5th Kansas Cavalry was recruited mostly from Decatur Co. Iowa and Mercer Co. Missouri and had a few Stanleys, some Gibson relatives and a few Sandlins.  A check of the LDS site showed a Rebecca Sandlin was m. to Alfred Muir Stanley and was related to Rufas Agustus Stanley so Rufas had it right at one time.

Rebecca [Anglin] was born 15 July 1812 in KY.  She died 6 Sep 1881 in Mercer Co, MO.  She married William Sandlin on 8 Feb 1834 in Clay Co, KY.  She was the daughter of Rev. James Anglin (1783 Greenbriar Co VA--Aug 26 1859 Rockcastle Co, KY) and Jansea Barrett.  Another daughter, Martha "Patsy", married Lewis Sandlin, brother to William.  William and Rebecca, Lewis and Martha moved to Boone Co, IN.  William continued on to Missouri.  This from Dann Norton.

Descendants of William Sandlin [don't recall the source; somewhere on the web; I include them for interest and the paths].

1. William3 Sandlin (Lewis2, William1) was born in Kentucky. He married Rebecca Anglin 08 February 1834 in Clay County, Kentucky.

Children of William Sandlin and Rebecca Anglin are:

10 ix. Henry C. Sandlin.

11 x. Mary Elizabeth Sandlin. She married Philip Wild 20 August 1857.

[I'm tempted to say William died in childbirth but that would be uncalled for.  Alf. M. and Rebecca had 24 children between them.  There is no evidence that Rebecca travelled with Alf. M.; I think that family ties might explain why.  The above is included as it gives some idea of the movement of the families.  Clay Co. Ky is next to Knox Co. where the Gibsons lived.  Boone Co. Indiana is near Putnam Co. where the Gibsons moved and to Hendricks Co. where Jesse Harris Stanley was born.  The Gibsons and Sandlins travelled similar paths.]
