and Tires Stock rims for the S4 are 5-spoke 16x8s, while the S6 has 6-spoke Avus-style 16x7.5s. A few S4s/6s came with 15" rims (the "snow" package). I've augmented my set of 16x8s with a set of Borbet Type-M 17x8s. In the time I've had the car, I've run the following wheel/tire combinations: Dunlop SP4000 225/50/16: This is a decent all season, which is to say that it's no match for either a snow tire or a summer tire. Still, a cheap, safe tire with an acceptable level of traction in light snow. Bridgestone Potenza S-02 235/45/17: Now this is what the public wants! Furiously expensive, very, very tractable, a blast in the wet or dry. Not a bad ride for a max performance tire. The downsides? 1) cost, 2) so soft a compound that a couple of track weekends and you can destroy a set of tires. Did I mention that these things are costly? Sumitomo HTR-Z 225/45/17: These were on the car when I acquired it, and in fairness were... harmless. Not much better traction in the dry than the SP4000s, but still very quiet and well behaved. Extremely cheap for a legit Z-rated tire. Yokohama AVS-Sport 245/40/17: These are very close to the SO2s, except that they're $50 a tire less, and a smidgeon less grippy. Still, a bargain and a superb tire in the wet or dry. Yokohama A032R 245/45/16: These are my current track tires. A bit of a compromise, in the aim of retaining some wet weather capability. Genuinely usable as road tires (if you don't mind the noise). Good in the wet (for a track tire). Wheels & Tires OTHER MODIFICATIONS
