"This is a very intriguing story of a woman put in an asylum by her tepchildren after they discovered some wild and unsavory literature in her room. Thankfully, her friend, Xenobia was worried about her and contacted the mayor of the town, Mr. Robert Albright, to see if he could do something about getting her released. Robert goes to see Mrs. Celeste Broder and finds himself greatly attracted to this beauty at first glance. Robert is a widower, and it seems he is a very passionate man never really fulfilled in his marriage. All his bells and whistles are working just fine once he makes eye contact with Celeste. Now he has all he can do to control himself.  I love it!

Celeste's problem is that she loves sex, and how can she convince Robert to get her out of this asylum? Her friend Xenobia tells her in the letter to get Robert in her bed ASAP. You know right now this letter is going to get her in hot water. Ouch! Oh boy, these two are in for a merry mix-up and you don't want to miss it. Very witty and engaging. Robert is a marvelous champion. Claire will leave you grinning!"
--Suzanne "We could all use a champion like Robert in the bedroom!" Coleburn

"All four tales are well written and fun to read because even the sexiest scenes are not written for shock value, but interwoven smoothly and realistically into the plots.   This quartet contains strong storylines and solid lead characters, but then again what else could one expect from the no longer SECRETS anthologies?"

Robert gestured toward the whitewashed, cast-iron table where Francie had set the teapot and the shortcake Mrs. Kenny had made that morning. Chilled bowls of strawberries and whipped cream stood nearby--only inches from her plate and the gift he'd wrapped that morning.

He pulled out her chair. After she sat, he let his fingers drift along the length of her throat. Her pulse beat rapidly just under her skin. Apprehension? Anticipation? Impossible to tell, but once she'd opened her present, she'd have no doubt what he intended for the rest of the afternoon.

She picked the parcel up and toyed with the ribbon. "For me?"

"A small gift to replace the one you lost."

She gave him a questioning look, but he just smiled and took his own seat while she unwrapped the package. When she saw the book, she let out a little gasp of surprise. "The Pearl. Wherever did you find this?"

"An obscure bookshop got it for me." A bookshop in a different town, three towns over, where no one knew him.

"You know what's in here, don't you?" she asked.

He did. In that book and four other erotic ones he'd bought and read himself in the past week. "I know."

"Are Lady Pokingham and her amorous adventures your standard reading?"

"They are now."

She put down the book and stared into his face for a long moment. "I don't think I want any tea, Robert."

Rejection. His heart stopped beating, and his chest suddenly felt empty. She was rejecting him, after all. "Do you want to go back to the asylum?"

"Of course not," she answered softly.

"Then, what?"

Under the table, she reached out a hand and pressed her palm against his erection. "This. This is what I want."
