There are two roads leading up to Palomares Mountain, S7 from the East and S6 from the South. The East Grade Rd is the less steeper climb of the two: you gain 800 m over 18.75 km which is just over 4%. There are mile markers every 1/5 of a mile along the road to keep you on track. There must be beautiful views, but when I was there visibility was less than 100 m.
S7 continues beyond the intersection and eventually turns into Nate Harrison Grade a dirt road which leads down to Hwy 76.
