The course starts in San Bruno (Sneath Ln / Skyline Blvd), crosses the ridge to the Pacific Ocean, across some cliffs near Rockaway Beach and across another hill to Montara Beach and back. The route also covers some history: the point from where the first Europeans (the Spanish Portola expedition) set eyes on the Bay and Old San Pedro Rd, the first paved connection from San Francisco to Half Moon Bay.

The course is roughly 1/3 pavement, 1/3 dirt and 1/3 the really old and boken pavement of Old San Pedro Rd. There are four or more run-ups, the excact number depends on the weather (rains means mud and more dismounts). There are six climbs. The first is 300 m elevation of Sneath Ln, the second 50 m of run-ups cliffs near Rockaway Beach, and another 50 m at “Alp d’Huez Miniature”. The climb up the ridge to Montara Beach and back with is around 350 m each way. And finally you get up the 400m back to the top of Sneath Ln by various means. This makes a total elevation gain of around 1500 m.
As maps are no good and I never ridden the loop with a computer on the bike, I can only guess the distance. I think it's around 50 km. My course record is 2:41.
