Critical Mass Award
(7 December 1998) "I don't know
how I may seem to others, but to myself I am but a small child wandering
upon the vast shores of knowledge, every now and then finding a small bright
pebble to content myself with (Plato)." Now this guy has found a
lot of shinny pebbles, and one can spend a week or more going through his
links. It took me half of an hour to find "Elvis Killed Kennedy!!!!!",
and
the journey to get there didn't bother me one bit. |

Adnan's 5 Stars Web Site Award
(7 December 1998) Presented by
Dr. Adnan Basma, Professor of Civil Engineering at Sultan Qaboos University
in the Sultanate of Oman. He describes his own website as "The most
civil place on the net", and I won't argue with him. But I
wonder if it's his doing that after receiving his award the website got
15 unique "hits" from the Arab world? |
 |
Adib & Tina Basma's Bugs Bunny
Web Excellence Award
(7 December 1998) Dr. Basma writes,
"My son Adib and daughter Tina also liked your page A LOT! They have agreed
(and they rarely do) to give you their Bugs Award too!". If
I didn't already have a "Puppy Dog Rule", I'd have to write one.
(Hint: the award is an animated *.gif, and moves VERY fast.
You'll appreciate it as much as I do if you reload this page and watch
closely.) |
 |
Ned's 'Yup. . .It's A Web Page'
Award
(7 December 1998) Yup.
It's got an URL and everything. And just look at the html code.
Nope, you don't find that in the Sears & Roebuck catalog. Yup.
Must be a webpage. |

The Blue Moon Award for Website
Excellence
(8 December 1998) ". . .Extraordinary
wit and imagination. I really enjoyed the visit. . . . I appreciate
the comments, Ham, but you also gave me a real headache. In your
honor I chose "Blue Moon of Kentucky" (which, by the way, was Elvis' first
recorded song) as the background music for this page, and it took FOREVER
to find a good *.mid file of the song. I hope you appreciate it. |
 |
Take 5 Homepage Award
(8 December 1998) It wasn't just
the Netherlanders that surprised me. I was unaware of the large contingent
of Australian and New Zealand websurfers. And, oddly enough, they
have been the ones most likely to propose their own theory. Usually
their theories have something to do with the assassin(s) consuming copious
quantities of beer, but at least the Aussies and Kiwis are willing to give
their opinions. |
 |
The Udderly Fantastic Webpage Award
(9 December 1998) I now have
cows to add to the ménagerie. At this rate I'll be able to
compete quite favorably with Jean de La Fontaine. |
 |
Axl's Best on the Web Award
(10 December 1998) This is one
of those awards that I don't care what it's supposed to be. It's
just great to look at. And, like clouds, every time I look it seems
to be of something different than the last time. For example, right
now it reminds me of an abstract rendition of George Washington ingesting
an Oort cloud. And before you ask, no, I wasn't hanging out at the
HomeGrown Award website before I posted this page. |
 |
Sage's Fun Award
(11 December 1998) "You're a
sic (sic) man or woman?. . .I like that in a person. Warped humor
always wins my award." First of all, LeRenard is the masculine
form of the noun. Second, guilty. Third, I like that in a woman
when she likes that in me. Lastly, please don't upset the fantasy
by informing me that the clown is a self portrait. |
 |
Mint's Pin of Approval
(12 December 1998) When I was younger
it was the male who pinned the female. But as Sage was confused as
to my gender, and I have little clue as to Mint's, I'll just leave it that
cyber gender relations are a curious thing. |
 |
The Acerbity Rules Award
(13 December 1998) "really liked
your site. look at me, i'm at a loss for words." And this is
from someone who knows the definition of acerbity. Sometimes
I impress myself. |
 |
The Zapped Award
(13 December 1998) "I'm not an
American, but you've made me understand what really happened to
Kennedy!" Gee thanks, Mary. Now I'll have the Presley estate,
Ann-Margret, BMI, ASCAP, and the United States Information Agency
after me. And maybe the Philippine government, too. |
 |
The StarSabers Award of Excellence
(14 December 1998) George has
a great page of Western art, which should be incentive enough for the reader
to click on his link. And he has a very handsome award. But,
personally, I think he awarded it to the website because Kennedy was a
Democrat. |
 |
SilentTiger's Keep Up The Good Work
Award
(14 December 1998) I like the
award. But why don't the sentiments seem that rewarding? |
