Map Above: From 1966 shows SR-88 alignment from Stockton to the Nevada State Line, Nevada 88 continues northeast and joins US 395 at the upper right hand corner of this map. The portion from Peddler Hill (Highlighted in Pink with the Closed in Winter box with Arrow) to junction with SR-89 at Picketts Junction is only closed for short periods of time in Winter. Signed as Carson Pass Scenic Byway from Jackson to the Nevada State Line, is one of the most beautiful highways in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, SR-88 has 155 miles in California and 10 miles in Nevada. SR-88 is one of only three routes to continue with the same route number after crossing into Nevada, the others being SR-28 north of Lake Tahoe & SR-266 in Southern Nevada near Death Valley |
