10 Things to do for off-roading and 10 Things not to do.
1. Do go on approved trails (Thread lightly) 2. Do let someone know where your going and when you should get back 3. Do be prepared (food, water, warm clothing, map, tools, etc.) 4. Do check your vehicle over before heading off (fluids, tire condition, lights, suspension, battery, etc.) 5. Do have a spotter guide you or walk the trail before driving over them (check the depth of a stream before crossing) 6. Do have a spare tire (inflated) and a work jack. 7. Do air down the tires for better traction off-road. 8. Do know where your differentials are and what and where the lowest points on your vehicle is. 9. Do have tow hooks and a tow strap in case you get stuck. 10. Do have fun and be careful. 10 Thing not to do for off-roading
1. Don’t drink and operate any motor vehicle on or off road. 2. Don’t place your thumbs in side the steering wheel (sometimes the wheel may spin quickly and smack your thumb). 3. Don’t use the brake unless it is absolutely necessary (let the engine and gears do the slowing down for you). 4. Don’t chase wildlife or tear up the trail (it’s a great way to close a trail for the rest of us) 5. Don’t leave your vehicle blocking the trail (if your broken down stay with the vehicle, it will he easier to find you). 6. Don’t go alone (it’s good to have a friend pull you out if you get stuck) 7. Don’t litter or leave your trash on the trail (that includes your bumper the rock tore off). 8. Don’t move rocks on the trail (if you needed to move a rock to get through, move it back when your done). 9. Don’t wander off the trail and make your own trail. 10. Don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it. (I will not leave anyone stranded on a trail and most Jeepers I know, won’t either).
These are not rules set in stone but they are rules for being a good Jeeper. See you on the trails and keep the sunny side up.
