After visiting Telc and Trebic, we rested for the evening in a Renaissance castle on beautiful green grounds, known today as the Trest Chateau Hotel, or Hotel Zamecky, where we said goodbye to Janos. For the history of Trest and the chateau, visit the Trest Chateau Hotel.

Krems

In Krems we visited the Institut für Realienkunde des Mittelalters und der Früheren Neuzeit where we viewed images of real life from the Middle Ages and learned about the institute’s image database. From our hotel Kolpinghaus we made our way to the Renaissance village of Stein, where we tasted the white wine of the region. In search of wineries in Stein, we came across the Frauenbergkirche, now a chapel commemorating Austrians who died in war, and savored from its walls a beautiful night view of the Danube River.

Vienna

Vienna: the city of music and culture in Austria, where we spent an afternoon before returning to Budapest. Some of our group disembarked here as we visited colleagues from the university, made our way to other destinations, or stayed to vacation in this glorious city. Medieval attractions included St. Stephen’s Dom, the Museum of Fine Arts, and the upper Belvedere Museum. To view some of the city’s most famous attractions, visit Vienna.
