Congratulations to Joe Siclari, who has won the 2005 DUFF race to send a deligate from North America to the Australian National Convention in Hobart, Tasmania, June 10-13!. Combined first-place votes were 65 for Joe, and 19 for Chris Barkley.

The 1999 trip report is still available for US$5 or A$5 in person, or US$6.50 or A$6.50 by mail from the Australian administrator or from former North American administrator Janice Gelb (1070 Mercedes Ave. #2, Los Altos, CA 94022). The currency should match the supplier's country. (Requests from outside the U.S. or Australasia should be sent to Janice.)
DUFF is a fund that helps send an Australian/New Zealand science fiction fan to attend either a Worldcon or NASFiC in North America and, in alternate years, helps send a fan from North America to attend an Australian Worldcon or National Convention. Two or more fans run against each other in any given DUFF race; fans pay a voting fee to cast ballots, and donated items are auctioned, and cash donations accepted, to offset the costs.
After attending the convention, the winners become administrators of DUFF for the next two years (one electing a fan to come to their country, the next electing a fan to go across the Pacific and replace them as administrators on their return). The administrators are responsible for distributing and counting the ballots and act as liaison with conventions, either where items are auctioned to benefit DUFF or where the winners of a given race are to attend.
