championed the contract with Tier 1 because I was so impressed with their
research. As the West Coast arm of Tier 1 Research, I was responsible

sales initiatives and negotiating contracts for subscriptions to Tier
1 Research's services

- Contributing

Responsibilities: Exodus Communications is a leading provider of complex
Internet hosting and outsourced infrastructure IT services. As Senior
Analyst with the Strategic Planning group, I was responsible for competitive
intelligence and market research. This involved the following:
- Designing,
creating, launching, and updating a competitive Intranet site dedicated
to competitive information. The site was designed to help Sales in
competitive situations.
- Designing,
creating and updating a competitive database which was linked to pivot
charts and pivot tables for dynamically modifiable competitive data.
- Preparing
a quarterly presentation, delivered to Exodus executive staff, on
the competition and market trends
- Reading,
digesting, and summarizing industry and financial reports

in industry and financial analyst briefings

Senior Analyst, Worldwide Quarterly PC Tracker
Responsibilities: The Worldwide Quarterly PC Tracker is an IDC research
program that follows the PC market on a region by region basis. It provides
quantitative as well as qualitative quarterly analysis of unit shipments,
total value, vendor share, as well as channel, segment, and processor
speed trends for each region. The summary data is published by all major
newswires, and the complete data is published to clients via www.idctracker.com
and CD-ROM. As Senior Analyst of the program, I was responsible for the
regional database roll-up, delivery of the data, and maintaining client
relationships. This involved the following:
- Coordination
with the research managers in IDC offices in London, Tokyo, Hong Kong,
Montreal, Miami, and Framingham regarding the internal regional research
deliverables.
- Managing
relationships with market research departments at Compaq, Dell, IBM,
Apple, Microsoft, HP, Micron and others
- Integration
of the regional databases to create a Worldwide perspective through
Microsoft Excel and Access
- Support
for our Senior Programmer and Program Operations Coordinator
- Website
design and maintenance
- Working
with the Worldwide PC Tracker Marketing Manager on cross-selling and
up-selling the research to new and existing clients.
