You've reached the home page of Take Note 2.12, a free musical ear/sight training program for Windows 3.x/9x (dl links below). And the header is no joke--it's free. No mailing list subscription--no strings attached at all. As a matter of fact, I'd appreciate it if you'd read the help file and not pester me with support questions.

Some have asked why free. Simple. I no longer have time to maintain the program and it's now a bit dated compared to the competition--if no less effective.

I'm willing to donate the source code to anyone willing to update it or port it to Linux--as long as it remains free. TN does have some unique abilities, such as a guitar grid that places notes using logic, which I've yet to see in any other program.

Official Notice: as of September 1st, 2000, Take Note 2.12 has been released into the public domain. Enjoy it and make good use of it. Just leave the credits alone, eh?

Official Notice: as of October 1st, 2000, the Atari and Amiga version of have also been released into the public domain. Do with them what you will--for non-profit only.

Sincerely, Jon L. Jacobi

If you get an error message, e-mail me at jon@jonljacobi.com and I'll send it to you. Feel free to pass the program on to public servers and friends. **
