THE CASE OF THE VARGINHA EXTRATERRESTRIAL
Varginha, a small town in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, has become
famous overnight because of something other than its excellent coffee.
Local people celebrate now the four-month anniversary of the most
extraordinary close encounter with extraterrestrials ever to be registered
in the country.
At 3:30 p.m., on a sunny and bright Saturday afternoon, January 20th, three
girls were coming down a narrow path in the area known as Jardim Andere, 2
kilometers away from the city centre, when one of them, Liliane Fatima
Silva, 16 years old, looked left and screamed. She had seen a strange
creature, with slippery brownish skin and what looked like three small
rounded horns protruding from its head, at about 7 meters from the point
they were standing. it was near the back wall of an old garage. "He was
squatting , with his long arms between his legs", the girls say. "The first
thing to call my attention were his eyes, huge and red". Terrified, Liliane
turned her back while her sister Valquiria, 14 years old and their friend
Katia Andrade Xavier, 22 years old, stayed looking at the creature, unable
to move. "It was not an animal and it wasn't certainly human.It was a
horrible thing!", says Katia who works as a maid and has three children.
"He seemed stupefied. He didn't make any noise.", says Valquiria. But then,
the creature made a small movement and the three girls ran for dear life.
Forty minutes later, Liliane and Valquiria's mother , Luiza Helena, 38
years old, arrived at the place to find out what had scared her daughters
so much. She found nothing.
The story has been widely publicised because, apparently without knowing
about the incident involving the 3 girls, an elderly couple, Oralina
Augusta and Eurico Rodrigues, who work as farmhands, insist on having seen
a UFO very early in the morning of January 20th. They were sleeping in
their house which is located near the road which goes from Varginha to Tres
Coracoes when they woke to the noise made by the cows. They looked out of
the window to see the animals totally disoriented and running around the
house .
Eurico says: "We looked at the sky and saw a grey object, similar to a
submarine, the size of a small bus, flying very slowly over the ground",
describes Oralina. "There was something like white smoke coming out of it.
There were no lights and it wasn't making any noise." Local people
immediately associated this spaceship with the ET who appeared 14 hours
later.
The day after, Mr. Ubirajara Franco Rodrigues, a UFOlogist and a lawyer who
teaches at one of the four colleges in Varginha, started investigating the
incident. Mr. Rodrigues has been studying UFOs for over 20 years now and he
says that only 1% of the so-called UFO sightings are authentic. For him,
the Varginha episode is the exception which confirms the rule. "What these
women saw was, without any doubt, an alien creature", says Mr. Rodrigues.
He has also concluded, after his investigation, that at least 2 EBEs
(extraterrestrial biological entities) and not only one were seen in town
on January 20th.
Since then, a great number of ufologists have visited Varginha. To be more
precise, 66 specialists have been to the city to investigate the event. "It
is certainly the most extraordinary thing we have ever heard about ,and we
have lots of registers of UFO apparitions", says Mr. Claudeir Covo, an
engineer who is the president of the Instituto Nacional de Investigacao de
Fenomenos Aeroespaciais (INFA). Mr. John Mack, a professor of Psychiatry at
Harvard Medical School is a specialist in research with human beings who
have been in close contact with ETs. He travelled all the way from the U.S.
to Varginha especially to do a series of interviews with the three women
who said they had seen the alien.
The repercussions of the episode reached beyond the specialists in UFOs.
The most popular Brazilian TV program covered the subject three times in
less than two weeks and the mayor of Varginha is considering the
possibility of organizing an international congress. But before such an
event, the ufologists working there intend to finish their investigation
which lasts 4 months already and which points at the army as the party
responsible for the CAPTURING AND HIDING of at least 1 of the 2 aliens who
are supposed to have been seen in Varginha.
In a report signed by 10 DIFFERENT ORGANIZATIONS, they unveil "a REAL,
complex operation involving military personnel as well as civilians, which
resulted in the capture of unidentified biological creatures. These
creatures, according to these organizations, were kept under medical
observation for some time and later on removed from the city".
Apart from Mr. Rodrigues, another ufologist, Mr. Vitorio Pacaccini, 31
years old, has been travelling to the area over the past few weeks. Both
specialists swear to have listened to 14 witnesses of the ET episode, among
which 4 people from the army. But they refuse to reveal any names or
evidence, apart from a photograph of a supposed interview with 1 of the
officers who participated in the operation. The ufologists insist that an
alien had been captured by 4 firemen at 10:30 a.m., on January 20th near a
wood which is located a few meters from the place where the girls would
have seen their ET and about 5 hours before Liliane, Valquiria and Katia
had the fright of their lives.
According to the ufologists, the alien was immediately placed inside a
wooden box, covered with a white cloth, put inside an army truck and taken
to the Escola de Sargentos das Armas , in Tres Coracoes, a bigger town
about 25 kilometers from Varginha. The day after, still according to the
specialists, another ET was seen at the Hospital Regional, in the city
centre and this time, yes, it would be the alien seen by the 3 girls.
In an operation involving military personnel from the Escola de Sargentos,
officers from the military police and the fire brigade, the ET, said Mr.
Rodrigues and Mr. Pacaccini, was taken , before dawn, on Monday, January
22nd, to the Hospital Humanitas, the best hospital in the area, 1.5
kilometers from the city centre . At about 6:00 p.m. on the same day, the
ET, already dead, was taken back to the Escola de Sargentos in a truck
which was part of a convoy of three vehicles.
The same convoy left the school in Tres Coracoes at 4:00a.m., on Tuesday,
January 23rd. Destination: Campinas (a much bigger city upstate Sao Paulo)
where the "cargo" was delivered to another military unit, probably the Army
Cadets Prep School.
"This operation was coordinated by lieutenant-colonel Olimpio Wanderley
Santos", says Mr. Rodrigues. "We have the testimony of an army officer from
the Escola de Sargentos in Tres Coracoes who was directly involved in the
operation. He describes in detail everything that happened during those
days", adds Mr. Pacaccini. In the 42-minute recording, this person says
that decomposition had already begun and when the corpse left Hospital
Humanitas the smell was pretty bad.
The army, of course, denies everything. The mouthpiece for the East
Military Area, Colonel Luiz Cesario da Silveira Leite, says that no
military personnel of any kind helped capture an alien. "We worry a lot
about national and international beings but only if they are
terrestrials...", said the Colonel to the reporter. The Colonel has also
classified as "exaggerated" all the connections between the ET and the
army. "What the ufologists say is ridiculous", says general Sergio Pedro
Coelho Lima, the commanding officer of the Escola de Sargentos. According
to him, the Air Force is the military organization which looks after
extraterrestrial phenomena. The Centro Integrado de Defesa Aerea e controle
de Trafego Aereo (CINDACTA), located in Brasilia, has a dossier about UFOs.
"It is true that there are lots of cases which remain unsolved until
today", confirms Brigadier Cherubim Rosa Filho, a minister of the Military
Supreme Court.
One of the most famous cases involving an ex-minister, was confirmed by
Brigadier Otavio Moreira Lima (the minister for the Air Force at that time)
and is now celebrating its 10th anniversary without any conclusive facts.
But what made the Varginha episode unique are some of the details which
only now are known to the public and which intensify the mystery involving
the whole thing. Luiza Helena, the mother of Liliane and Katia , the girls
who insist they saw the ET, insists that at the beginning of this month, 4
men wearing suits came to her house and offered to pay a large sum if her
daughters would deny their contact with the alien. "They said they would
pay cash", says Luiza. " They also said they would come back, but we can't
hide the truth". The 4 men did not identify themselves and only the girls
were present when they arrived. Their father, Joao Lopes da Silva, a bus
conductor, was working when the attempted bribery happened. The coincidence
between what the ufologists had discovered and these facts only got
publicised last week. The administrator of Hospital Regional, Adilson Usier
Leite, confirms that the week after the appearance of the supposed ET, the
2 city hospitals went through unusual commotion. In the Hospital Regional,
a car belonging to the fire-squad brought a corpse which they said, had
been exhumed and needed an X-ray. The body was said to belong to a young
boy, a university student and the son of an influential family in town who
had been found dead in a cell, at the police station, after having been
arrested for burglary. At the Hospital Humanitas, also administered by Mr.
Leite at the time, the unusual movement was connected with the arrival of
new equipment to be used during the first heart transplant to be done in
Varginha. "When everybody started talking about this ET story, I thought it
would be better not to mention that policemen and firemen had been at the
hospital", says Mr. Leite.
But nothing convinces the ufologists. They insist that they are telling the
truth when they say that instead of new equipment or a special criminal
occurrence, both hospitals in town, as well as the fire brigade, were
trying to HIDE THE BODY of an ET. And they go further: last Tuesday, Mr.
Rodrigues and Mr. Pacaccini went back to Varginha after having been to
Campinas. "We know without any shadow of doubt, that the creature was
autopsied by Dr. Badan Palhares", says Mr. Rodrigues referring to the very
well-known coroner of the Universidade de Campinas (UNICAMP). " By now, it
is very likely that the body has already been flown from Brazil to the
U.S.A.", finished Mr.Pacaccini. "I don't know where this idea came from",
denies Dr. Palhares in Campinas.

to, after more than 3 months of intensive investigation, have no doubts of
any sort that what happened in Varginha in January of 1996 was a gigantic
cover up operation involving military personnel and civilians, and which
resulted in the CAPTURE OF BIOLOGICALLY UNIDENTIFIED CREATURES.
These creatures were KEPT UNDER MEDICAL OBSERVATION AND LATER ON WERE
REMOVED FROM THE TOWN. This is a unique event in Brazil with unimaginable
repercussions, both scientific and philosophical. However, ufologists all
over the world have come to the consensus that there is a widespread
tendency for countries where these events take place to hide them from the
public.

have access to the truth should be unquestionable to all humanity,

RESEARCHERS CARPENTER, FRIEDMAN, MACK GO TO BRAZIL; FIND GOOD EVIDENCE FOR
CLAIM OF "CAPTURED ALIENS"

Information keeps coming in to the ISCNI News Center on the rumored capture
of two or more "alien beings" by military authorities in Brazil. The latest
article received through internet sources (see below) mentioned that
well-known American abduction researcher John Carpenter had recently been
in Brazil to examine the case. Carpenter is also a founding member of the
ISCNI faculty. I phoned him at his office on June 13 and asked what he had
learned.
"In short, it's a damn good case. I'd say it's equal to Roswell," Carpenter
said.
He had been in Brazil just last week for a conference, returning to his
home in Springfield, Missouri, on June 11. He told me he was going into a
meeting when I called and could give only brief answers to my questions,
but promised to write a detailed report for ISCNI soon.
I told Carpenter I had just received an email press release on the case
from well-known Brazilian UFO researcher A.J. Gevaerd. "Oh yes, he'll know
all about it," Carpenter said.
Carpenter, along with Stanton Friedman and British researcher Graham
Birdsall, attended the Brazilian UFO conference together and were seeking
any information they could get on the alleged capture of aliens. They
learned that one of the leading investigators of the case, Vitorio
Pacaccini, was at the conference and speaks perfect English.
Carpenter, Friedman and Birdsall invited Pacaccini to a private room where
they interviewed him on videotape for more than an hour. On the strength of
this interview and the evidence that Pacaccini has amassed, Carpenter says
he and the other researchers were highly impressed.
Carpenter confirmed that famed abduction researcher Dr. John Mack had been
in Brazil the previous week. Mack interviewed the three young girls who
reported seeing one of the "alien beings" later captured by the military.
"Mack told me he would stake his career and his license on those three
girls being truthful," Carpenter said.
Carpenter dropped some tantalizing hints of bigger elements of the case
that have not yet been divulged. He says there is strong suspicion that a
UFO crash-recovery is involved. He also said, "There are [or were] five or
six beings on the loose."
All published reports so far have mentioned only two beings.
The following text is edited from a press release sent out on June 9 by
Brazilian researcher A. J. Gevaerd. CNI News thanks James Sutton for

PRESS RELEASE - URGENT
On January 20, military forces captured two extraterrestrial creatures
still alive in Brazil. The capture occurred in neighboring areas of the
city of Varginha, State of Minas Gerais, Central Brazil. The fact is to be
considered one of the most significant ever registered in this country and
in the entire world. Military authorities are keeping secret all details of
the operation, but some information has already leaked to the UFO community
due to the investigative job of Dr. Ubiraja Franco Rodrigues and Vitorio
Pacaccini, who live nearby and are recognized as serious and dedicated
researchers.
On the afternoon of January 20, about 3.30 PM local time, three young girls
named Liliane, Valquiria and Katia observed a strange creature in a field
of small bushes a few blocks from where they live. It was Saturday and they
were coming back from their jobs when, crossing an empty area, their
attention was attracted by a strange being a few meters away. The [being]
was kneeling and looked like it was hurt, suffering some sort of pain. No
UFO was ever seen. The girls observed it for a few minutes and ran away,
afraid that they had just encountered the devil....
The three girls were extensively interrogated by above mentioned
researchers, leaving no doubt whatsoever about what happened. Very simple
kids, they described the [creature] as being dark brown, with a small body
of 4 to 5 feet in height, no hair at all, big brown head, small neck. It
also seemed to have some greasy, dark oil on its skin. A strange odor was
noticed by the mother of the girls, when she went to the site. The head of
the creature had two big red eyes, no pupils, very small mouth and nose and
three protuberances in the head. The girls described such protuberances as
horns.
Following the leads, researchers Rodrigues and Paccaccini started making
inquiries everywhere in the town of Varginha, in order to know if anybody
else had seen the same creature. They found several other people who also
observed the [beings] in the same location and maybe other [beings] in
different locations. While conducting their own investigations, both
discovered that different witnesses had seen army trucks and other military
vehicles and personnel that very morning, a few blocks from the place the
girls saw the [being].
In trying to find out what the military were doing, Rodrigues and Pacaccini
came to meet a few soldiers and sergeants. One of them decided to talk
secretly about their mission, in a confidential taped interview. This
Sergeant confirmed that, about 9:00 AM, January 20, the Fire Department of
Varginha was required to capture a strange animal in the area. When four
firemen arrived in a truck in the place, they noticed that it was not a
strange animal at all, and reported the fact to the Army Sergeant School
Commander in the neighboring city of Tres Coracoes (about 10 miles east of
Varginha).
An army truck was sent to the place and both forces captured the creature
using nets and equipment regularly used to capture wild animals. The
[creature] was placed still alive in a box that was then covered by
resistant fabric. The box was placed on top of the truck, the vehicle
headed to the Army Sergeant School and all personnel involved were ordered
not to talk about it with anyone else. "It was a secret operation," [they
were told by] Lieutenant Colonel Wanderley, who commanded the operation.
After [this] unusual confidential report, a few other military decided to
come forward and speak about the captures as long as their identities were
totally kept secret. They all confirmed, on taped interviews, that a second
creature (possibly the same one seen by the girls that afternoon) was
captured on the night of January 20, by personnel from the Army and the
Fire Department.
Details of [this] operation are fully known. This creature, identical to
the first one, was taken to the Regional General Hospital of Varginha that
same night, stayed there for a few hours and then was transferred to a
better equipped facility, the Humanitas Hospital.
A few nurses and personnel from Regional General Hospital had confirmed
some facts and they were all suppressed. Individuals who had contacts with
the second creature were advised to avoid press and UFO researchers and not
to talk about it with anyone, not even their families or relations. At the
Humanities Hospital, the second creature was kept at least for 2 days, and
on the second night, January 22nd, a huge military operation took place to
remove the creature, [then] already dead.
Interviews with some of the military who participated in this new
operation, removing the creature from the Humanitas Hospital, declared that
three Army trucks were used, each one driven by two different soldiers. It
is believed that three trucks were used to remove only one body in order to
[prevent] the soldiers from knowing in which truck it would be transported.
The drivers and their [escorts] couldn't see the details of the operations,
as they were kept outside the hospital area. Military personnel from the
Army Internal Intelligence (called "S-2" in Brazil and extremely violent
and repressive) were responsible for getting the corpse from the interior
of the hospital, placing it in a box and then in one of the trucks.
All three trucks then were taken to a military facility in Campinas, State
of Sao Paulo, about 200 miles from Varginha, in the middle of the night.
There, the corpse was removed to the University of Campinas, one of the
best institutions in the country. It is believed -- and we already have
detailed information to be soon released -- that the body was autopsied by
Dr. Badan Palhares, world-acclaimed as one of the best professionals in
that area alive (he was the one who autopsied German Nazi Mengele, about
ten years ago). Palhares, as well as any other authority involved, denied
he was involved in any such operations.
UFO researchers from all over the country have been helping Rodrigues and
Pacaccini, in order to discover each and every detail of the capture of the
two [beings]. Media in Brazil has never been so active, and a great
majority of the population believes that the case is real and that the
military and civil authorities involved are keeping the facts secret. Many
strange facts are happening simultaneously, such as [imprisonment] of
soldiers, Sergeants being transferred at short notice etc. The phones of
many UFO researchers involved in the case are confirmed to be tapped and a
few threats have been made anonymously.
Every day new pieces of this fantastic puzzle are being received by
researchers in many cities, and more and more military personnel have
agreed to talk. In a matter of weeks, all information will be fully
disclosed by the UFO researchers involved.
Meanwhile, the region where Varginha is located, in the South of State of
Minas Gerais, is subject to one of the biggest UFO waves ever registered,
the huge UFOs in close range observations, landings and contact.

On the 'Programa de Domingo' aired tonight on the Manchete Television
Network we had the following statements from Pacaccini and other ufologists
researching the Varginha case:

More people were involved for sure in an operation of this nature.
There is now some evidence that a spaceship crash occurred in Minas Gerais,
near Varginha. There is now talk of that 7 creatures have been captured
(according to Pacaccini and Marco Antonio Petit, Brazilian ufologists).
There is also talk of the American Government, through the US Air Force,
warning the Brazilian Government of space-craft coming over Brazilian
territory, confirmed by the Brazilian radar system (Air Force source,
according to the ufologists). There is an Air Force witness who doesn't
want to go public who allegedly said that they saw the spaceship debris on
the top of a truck.
All this came to the public in the Congress recently held in Curitiba,
Parana, south of Brazil.

REVELATIONS ABOUT THE VARGINHA CASE

The Varginha Case is, without any doubt, the most important case in
brazilian ufology and, possibly, worlwide. It started with the testifying
of three girls that had a sighting, but already has reached proportions
beyond this. Associated to this case, UFOs over the south region of Minas
Gerais State, became more constant since a few days ago. We have contusive
witnesses evidence of sightings in four different towns, apart from each
other about 80 Km.
One of the witnesses is the Mayor of Monsenhor Paulo.
Because of these happenings, people from the region stayed alert and
interested in everything that occurred.
From them, we had the opportunity to contact Fire Corps representatives and
also Military Police in Varginha, and from Escola de Sargento das Armas
(ESA = Sargeants Arms School) in Tres Coracoes, which increase the
unumbered details to the investigations, being possible to affirm with
tranquility the truthfullness of the fact. It is extremely pleasant for me
and for Ubirajara - ufologist who also commands the investigation - to be
able to be involved in this research. We always read and heard talks about
the cover up by the Arms forces, but it is something distant of what is
happening in this case. We are here, living the facts and feeling on our
skin all the cover up that is being done, all the counter-information that
the Army's Secret Service and also Military Police are doing to disturb the
investigations.
COMPLETE PROOF - We are feeling on our skins all the intimidation those
authorities are exerting over the involved people in the operations and
over the population. There are proofs that there exists an international
intention to cover up the Varginha episode. This is not only a brazilian
authorities thing: we have the knowledge that, in other countries, this
also occurs. But here it is in an extremely violent form. Even though we
are fighting against those military forces - in the sense of taking the
facts to the public -, what has been valuable so far were the contacts that
we maitained with military people, which allowed us to find out how the
captures of extraterrestrial beings occurred in Minas Gerais.
It were those military people who, asking to be anonymous (and we
garanteeing them this {NT: they mean they would keep it secret}), informed
us in detail how the Army took these creatures, who commanded and who were
the involved people in this operation. We also found out who ordered
everyone to shut up, what hospitals and hours in which the beings were in,
etcetera. There are only missing now photographs and films of the fact,
because, in what refers to Varginha, everything is practically uncovered.
It is a great honor to take part in this research, because when I first
knew the facts, in past January, the Centro de Investigacoes Civil de
Objetos Aereos Nao Identificados (CICOANI - Unidentifyed Aerial Objects
Investigation Civil Center), in Belo Horizonte, and we decided that it was
necessary a detailed investigation. As I was raised in the south of Minas
Gerais State, knowing well the region, I was indicated to support the
research. As soon as I arrived, asking questions and collecting information
to know the veracity of the fact, I had contact with a military witness,
whose identity is still kept secret, and that was the beginning of
everything.
I was frightened with what I heard from that person, because what I found
out was only the tip of the iceberg. I installed myself definitly there, in
the South of Minas, because the subject is of such a gravity(NT: such
importance) that I could not leave Ubirajara alone, such is the volume of
things to be investigated.
We established a partnership since the beginning, even though I only came
to meet him there. We are working on this everyday, because we believe in
the importance of the elucidation to the Mankind.
If we had not taken seriously the testifying of the girls, that was what
originated all and that gave enough reason for us to ascertain the veracity
of their witnesses, we would not continue the investigation and would not
get to where we are. Ubirajara and I are involved here in this research to
try to prove definitily the visits of extraterrestrial to our planet.
The officials at Escola de Sargentos das Armas (ESA), in Tres Coracoes, are
professionals that follow superior orders and that, obviously, will not
reveal anything about it, because it is not the interest of the Army Forces
that this happens. For us, it doesn't change anything the fact of them
denying everything, including accusing the investigation of ridiculous and
inconsiderate, in an official note. We continue to respect the institution,
because we know of the relevant services done to the community and to the
country. The process of ufology cover up is worldwide - and in Brazil it
would not be different.
The Brazilian government is under strong international pressures. It is not
a surprise for me, because I already expected this negative conduct, but it
will not change, in no hypothesis, the rythm of the investigation.
SOURCES IDENTIFICATION - What was revealed from us to the public is limited
only to what can be the truth, to what is verifiable, because there are
information that, in case it comes to public, we will end up involving and
identifying our information sources, which need to stay occult for obvious
reasons. These people have access to the knowledge of the operation, what
is restrict and highly reserved. With the intention of preserving the
identies of the sources, we are being very carefull when we speak to the
midia about our investigation. The quantity of information is a lot bigger
the one can think of, but we can't disclose them now, because the proofs
that we have are only testimonials.
And the witnesses - civil and military - will not show up to the public
because they fear a series of retaliations, and with all the reason. The
only substancial proof that we would have for this case, that would be the
creatures, was removed from the scene by the Army. Whoever did this
operation wanted me, and any other person, to know nothing. It is clear
that the captured extraterrestrials aren't in the south of Minas, but were
transfered to places of maximum security. Possibly, similar cases to the
Varginha have already happened throughout Brasil, only that they were
controled in such a way that it was not possible for us to know about them.
[Editor's note: for the luck of brazilian Ufology, the case occurred in a
town where there are serious active ufologists. What if it had happened in
a village in the interior of the Amazon, where there are no ufologists?
Would we know about the happenings?].
Nothing impends that intelligent beings have already found us. This impact
will be very strong and the Human Race will have to be ready for it. We are
not alone in the Universe. Perhaps all this serves to man to think better
about a series of things and to take care of his planet. It is unavoidable,
that later on it will bring benefits to all the population. We believe that
what we are revealing now will be a counsciousness reconquest in relation
to the possibility of intelligent life in other planets. No doubts.

RESEARCHER JOHN CARPENTER GOES TO BRAZIL, SAYS CLAIM OF CAPTURED ALIEN IS
WELL SUPPORTED BY EVIDENCE

Information keeps coming in to CNI News on the rumored capture of two or
more "alien beings" by military authorities in Brazil. The latest article
received through internet sources (see below) said that well-known American
abduction researcher John Carpenter had recently been in Brazil to examine
the case. Carpenter is also a founding member of the ISCNI faculty. I
reached him at his office by phone this morning (June 13) and asked what he
had learned.
"In short, it's a damn good case. I'd say it's equal to Roswell," Carpenter
said. He was in Brazil just last week for a conference, returning to his
home in Springfield, Missouri, on June 11. He told me he was going into a
meeting when I called and could give only brief answers to my questions,
but promised to write a detailed report for CNI News soon.
I told Carpenter I had just received an email report on the case from
well-known Brazilian UFO researcher A.J. Gevaerd. "Oh yes, he'll know all
about it," Carpenter said.
Carpenter, along with Stanton Friedman and British researcher Graham
Birdsall, attended the Brazilian UFO conference together and were seeking
any information they could get on the alleged capture of aliens. They
learned that one of the leading investigators of the case, Vitorio
Pacaccini, was at the conference and speaks perfect English.
Carpenter, Friedman and Birdsall invited Pacaccini to a private room where
they interviewed him on videotape for more than an hour. On the strength of
this interview and the evidence that Paccaccini has amassed, Carpenter says
he and the other researchers were highly impressed.
Carpenter confirmed that famed abduction researcher Dr. John Mack had been
in Brazil the previous week. Mack interviewed the three young girls who
reported seeing one of the "alien beings" later captured by the military.
"Mack told me he would stake his career and his license on those three
girls being truthful," Carpenter said.
Carpenter dropped some tantalizing hints of bigger elements of the case
that have not yet been divulged. He says there is strong suspicion that a
UFO crash-recovery is involved. He also said, "There are [or were] five or
six beings on the loose."
All published reports so far have mentioned only two beings.

The Varginha Case
Alien is captured in Minas Gerais and the authorities deny it.
There is evidence confirming that an ET was taken by the Fire Dept. in
Varginha and the authorities are hiding the case from the population.
"It looks like a man but it's not. It has grey/brown skin, big red eyes,
big feet and 3 little horns on its head". That's the description made by
the 3 witnesses who saw a strange being in Varginha, south of Minas Gerais.
They are sisters Liliane de Fatima Silva, 16 years old, Valquiria Aparecida
Silva, 14 years old, and a friend called Katia de Andrade Xavier, 22 years
old. They were surprised by the extraterrestrial when they were walking
home and crossing an empty yard, on january 20th.
Frightened, the girls didn't look directly at the creature but they ran
away very quickly. This incident become known at almost the same time that
it happened. Dozens of people went to the yard but didn't see anything.
Before that a strange rush took place at the city. Some neighbours claimed
they saw a Fire Dept. truck picking up a strange thing at another site.
This other ET would be taken to the local hospital.
The witnesses claimed their stories to be true. But what happened to the
other ET? What about all the information? Is it true? How can we tell the
difference between a hoax and the truth? As a matter of fact this is a
really complicated case and must be treated with a lot of attention and
care from the media, government and UFO researchers.
The case is real - The Fire Dept. denies all possibilities of a capture.
Captain Alvarenga denies everything, "we are supposed to deal only with
real things, from Earth. An extraterrestrial would be very uncommon. The
Fire Dept. couldn't deal with something like that, we don't have the
conditions to do it", says the captain.
Considering all the relevant things on this case, at least, one thing is
certain, the girls sighting is real. For the UFO researcher Ubirajara
Franco Rodrigues, the first one who dealt with the case, there's no doubt
about it, he said "The witnesses are very reliable. There are signs of
emotional trauma caused by the strange 'meeting' with the alien. I believe
they are telling the truth".
The girls mother, Luisa Silva, believes in her kids and is very worried
about them. In february, she broke the story to the press and media. She
allowed access to make interviews but only for the UFO researchers.
Ubirajara Rodrigues agreed with the mother: "They are suffering too much
pressure. At school their friends are teasing them and asking a lot about
the ET."
Another interesting thing is that all the media became very interested
about this case: the local news, newspapers, TV, radio, magazines and
others (this never occurred before - not in this magnitude). Considering
that, we could check on the citizen's opinion: a lot of people don't
believe and think that it may be some strange animal or possibly a
"demoniac/satanic" entity. In other words there are some believers.
Where is the ET - The girls mother is totally convinced that everything is
true. Luisa, a person who never experienced any aspect of ufology, believes
that the ET wasn't captured but it's free. The first information about the
capture came from a witness named Henrique Jose da Silva.
He saw a Fire Dept. truck parked near a yard but didn't realise what was
happening there. He says he listened to some people saying: "the Fire Dept.
has captured a strange creature".
At the moment the case is being analysed by the UFO researchers Ubirajara
Rodrigues, from Varginha, and Vitorio Pacaccini, from Belo Horizonte. They
agree about the 3 girls - each of them must be protected because they have
said a lot of things to the people of the city. There are a few witnesses,
who wish to remain anonymous and one of them claimed that the ET was taken
to a hospital and kept safe from the media and public, also the hospital
staff - no one should know about it.
The hospital's director, Adilson Husier, claimed that the story is
nonsense. It never happened. He said: "We couldn't keep an extraterrestrial
here, we couldn't deal with it, nothing but humans". Another anonymous
witness said he saw 2 army trucks (on the same day of the sighting)
patrolling the city. The trucks were from the Escola de Sargentos das Armas
(EsSA) - army staff- from Tres Coracoes (Minas Gerais). In fact the press
were not allowed to enter the army HQ, not even to take pictures.
Strange occurrences - Indeed there was a great and strange movement by the
week of the 20th in Varginha. Some people saw 2 Americans entering the
Humaitas Hospital, both carrying a strange device. At the Regional Hospital
the hospital staff are forbidden to talk about this subject. One of the
catering staff at the hospital said: "I don't believe but a friend of mine
has seen the alien here in this hospital".
Two extraterrestrials - There's another version of this whole story - there
are 2 ETs, possibly male and female. Certain people said the aliens were
hurt and were taken to the hospital. Before that they were taken to the
Universidade de Sao Paulo (University of Sao Paulo). In fact 2 cars from
the University were seen around the city with 2 strange men inside them -
those men were guests in a hotel near the Regional Hospital (maybe the
Americans!?)
In the hospital the aliens would be treated by doctor Rogerio (an
orthopaedist). He said: "I don't know how you could waste your time with
that kind of stuff, it's nonsense. There's no extraterrestrials". On the
other hand the same doctor Rogerio said to a reporter from the Varginha
news: "I don't know what it is (the ET), could be a freak (human), but I
have never seen anything like it".
The fact is: the authorities, the army, hospitals, Fire Dept., etc got very
worried about the whole story. Why should they pay all this attention to
the case? I think this fact corroborates the truth of the story.
UFOs over Varginha: A well known fact
Economically speaking, Varginha is an important city, located at the south
of Minas Gerais. There are many industries and great companies there, many
from other countries. The city has also a great cultural mixture and 180
thousand inhabitants.
In fact the main interest of the city is based on the tremendous amount of
UFO activity - there are many sightings, abductions, etc. The south of
Minas Gerais is very well known in the world for its extraterrestrial
phenomena. Close cities such as Sao Tome das Letras, Tres Coracoes,
Conselheiro Lafaiete, Pouso Alegre and others, are also very well known for
the same reasons.. In the last few months the activity has risen and in
almost all cities flying saucers were seen - in some cases involving
hundreds of witnesses.
