A page Craig and Eddie dedicate to
their favorite artists, with raves, critiques,
and links.

Some of Craig's earliest TV memories are of watching "The Sonny & Cher Show." She has captivated him ever since. Celebritydom has few forces of personality as potent as Cher. Her beauty and acting talent are abundant enough for two people, but she also happens to have one of pop's most distinctive, lovely voices. I've lived my life on
    stages
With ten thousand people
    watching.
But now we're alone
And I'm singing this song
    for you.

We don't have enough MBs to do justice to Madonna here. We can't even describe our collection; without setting out to do so, we now find that we've accumulated just about everything she's produced in her long, stunning career. Suffice it to repeat what Norman Mailer said about her in Esquire a few years ago: She's quite simply the greatest living female artist in the world.

How to describe Sandra Bernhard? There's no one quite like her, and certainly no one does what she does. Anyone who has seen her stage shows knows what we're talking about. They're part cabaret, part stand-up, part storytelling, and all entertaining. She single- handedly elevates the term "performance art." Get me a Remy Martin with a water back, goddamnit!

Electronic is The Smiths' peerless guitarist Johnny Marr and New Order's incomparable singer Bernard Sumner. What's not to love? Since their eponymous debut in 1991, they've been one of Craig's favorite bands. Although they bring to mind the best of The Smiths and New Order, they have a sound all their own, and we find it irresistible.

If there's a place to be
Why don't you come with me?
Listen to your father
Listen to your brother.
Take every chance that comes.
Maybe you'll find someone.
We don't need to argue
We just need each other

Craig and Eddie describe their devotion to Phil Hendrie, radio's unique and dazzlingly entertaining superstar, at length on the Hobby page. Before he retired the radio show on 6/23/06, Hendrie had been on L.A.'s KLSX AM 570 from 7 to 10 every weeknight and across the country via syndication. He impersonated a stable of distinct, hilarious characters, making the kind of pointed social and political commentary through satire that hundreds of hours of typical "talk radio" could never achieve---while being funnier than any other single program in any medium.  Craig tried never to miss a show, going so far as to rig up cassette-recording devices in the late '90s, a VCR to record audio around the turn of the century, and finally a programmable WAV recorder for the PC. In 1999 Craig started collecting his favorite moments for future enjoyment, suspecting that such an original, unusual show wouldn't last. It ended up lasting eight more years!

April Winchell Craig regrets not discovering the loopy, hilarious April Winchell Show on L.A. radio until late in her first year. He and Eddie became instant fans. Each week the always gregarious, sometimes grumpy writer-actress delighted listeners with her rollicking stories, her sadistic audio treats, and her unabashed fondness for C-list celebrities, bad music, the profound in the tacky, and the tacky in the profound. She still appears twice monthly as a Friday night guest on Ask Mr. KABC, not to mention around L.A. when we're lucky, and she maintains her own entertaining Web site and show archive.

One of Craig and Eddie's favorite TV shows is The Golden Girls, which ran for seven seasons beginning in 1985 and which can now be seen in syndication both here and abroad. It was a rare collaboration of great writers, directors, and especially actresses. You can watch the cast and crew discuss it with their fans at the Museum of TV and Radio, where a tribute to the show is archived.
