The Best of Phil Hendrie 1998 The outstanding proceeds (over $120,000) from the sale of this compilation went to My Friend's Place, a resource for wayward teens. It has some hilarious moments, with an emphasis on the funniest callers rather than the funniest scenarios. Dionne from Phelan is particularly funny. When she estimates that her boobs weigh 10 pounds apiece, David G. Hall can't get his mind back on the business at hand, which is, as usual, to publicly berate Phil. The illustration of Phil is by Matt Groening ("The Simpsons"). |

The Best of Phil Hendrie 1995
From Phil's second-to-last year in Miami, this is a terrific collection of funny bits. An advantage to being in Miami is all the thick southern accents, which make so many callers unintentionally hilarious. One guy refers to the Miami Herald as the "My-aay-moh Herrow." Margaret Gray, everyone's favorite jet-set celebrity journalist, makes several appearances. Phil gets things started by imitating a voice mail computer. A guy called to complain about the station's cruel stereotyping of Canadians (they wear black socks with Birckenstocks, for example), and Phil, pretending to be a voice-mail menu, gets the guy to push all kinds of buttons in response to an absurd, endless survey. The guy even starts pushing them with his feet! It's classic Hendrie. |
