Craig & Eddie: Us

Eddie and Craig are native Californians. Eddie grew up in the western end of the San Fernando Valley, and Craig's hometown is Thousand Oaks, in Ventura County about 50 miles northwest of Los Angeles. They met in 1993.

Eddie and Craig live in Los Angeles and share a two-bedroom tower apartment in the superbly located Park Labrea, the largest apartment community west of the Mississippi. When the numerous oil wells that dotted the landscape of Rancho La Brea dried up in the early 1930s, 175 acres were privately developed into hundreds of two-story garden apartments. These are perhaps the only apartments in Los Angeles with two stories; most people mistake them for condos. The many streets radiate from two circular parks. The wagon-wheel streetplan is so distinctive, it's easy to spot from a plane.

Eighteen towers followed in the early 1940s, each 13 stories high and with great views from nearly all sides. Inside the gated community are a dry cleaners, a gym, a lap pool, a putting range, a café, three parks, two tall fountains, and countless flower gardens. The Park Labrea is flanked by L.A.'s famous Farmers Market and The Grove on the north and Museum Row on the south, which includes the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the La Brea Tar Pits.

Eddie was a Boy Scout throughout junior high and high school and once had the honor of meeting Mr. Bob Hope at the Boy Scout Jamboree in Idaho. He was graduated from El Camino Real High School in Woodland Hills, California. Eddie is a marketing representative for a local giant telecom firm. Craig was graduated magna cum laude from UCLA with a degree in English Lit and a minor in German. His college career included reporting for and managing a bimonthly campus newspaper and spending a semester abroad at the Goethe-Institut in Freiburg, Germany. He's now a managing editor at the world's largest consumer-magazine publishing house. This photo was taken at a restaurant on the Grand Canal in Venice, Italy.
