The Staff Development Training and Consulting Team is currently seeking to fill one (1) vacant Staff Development Specialist position in the Child Welfare Training Team. Under general direction, this position will perform training and staff development activities in areas including but not limited to CWS/CMS, Web SDM, CalWIN Web and Criminal Background Checks; assist in coordinating and conduct induction training for new child welfare workers as well as ongoing training for experienced Children & Family Services staff; and perform related duties as required. Knowledge of CWS/CMS is necessary. "Training for trainers on CWS/CMS can be made available to the person selected for this position."
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to the following:
Knowledge of: Principles of adult education and training; teaching methods and procedures; public and community resources and services; provisions of the California Welfare and Institutions Code, the Social Security act and other pertinent legislation in the field of public welfare and social services.; operation and application of CWS/CMS and other automated systems and software programs; and consultation techniques.
Ability to: Prepare and present lesson plans; establish and maintain effective and cooperative; relationships with other employees; analyze and evaluate training needs and make appropriate recommendations; evaluate the effectiveness of training activities; facilitate and lead groups; communicate verbally; operation and application of automated systems and software programs; and be flexible with multiple projects and priorities at the same time
The person selected to temporarily fill this position will be provisionally appointed under the provisions of the Civil Service Law and Rules, Rule 1720, Provisional Appointment. This means that the appointee must take and pass the Civil Service Examination and be reachable on the Eligibility List in order to be considered for permanent appointment to the position (see back of the announcement for conditions of provisional appointment).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EITHER I
The equivalent of one year of experience in the classification of Supervising Eligibility Technician or in an equivalent or higher level classification in the Alameda County classified service. (Non-classified includes District Attorney’s Office, Hospital Authority, and the Consolidated Courts.) (Completion of one or more courses of study in methods, principles, practices and techniques of Adult Education is desirable). In addition, a current performances appraisal on file with at least a “Meets Requirements” performance rating in all areas.
OR
EITHER II
The equivalent of three years of full-time experience which involved planning, developing, conducting and evaluating adult education and training programs. (A bachelor's degree in teacher education or industrial training or a closely related field may be substituted for two years of the required experience.)
License:
Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's license.
