Redwood Empire Cage Bird Club
History
In Sonoma County and the surrounding communities there are a multitude of people keeping and breeding birds. It became quite apparent that there was a real need for a bird club. Such an organization would pool together a great resource of people who could share their knowledge as well as friendship with others who had a common interest.
Towards that end a group of five people met several times to lay the groundwork on establishing this club.
At our first "interest" meeting we were feeling that if twenty five people showed up we would be doing good. To our surprise over ninety people attended, obviously a club was needed.
Our first official meeting was held in March 1991, at which time over 80 people joined. By June we had over 125 members. Since then we have had an average attendance of over 80 people at each meeting.
Through much hard work our group has become very enthused and we look forward to a great future.
