This page on genealogical web pages was originally presented to the Hayward Area Genealogical Society on Tuesday, April 27th, 2004. It is intended as an overview of what might be available and/or practical.
A printable black text version is available should you like to print these pages. (Note: Appearance of any web site here indicates neither the author's endorsement nor approval of the web site or it's content.)
Some Genealogical Web Pages:
- The Barklow Family web site. An example of a web site on a particular family. This is a relatively simple web site with three pages.
- The The Russell G. Drake Family Web Page. Another example of a web site on a particular family. This is an example of a page done through Family Tree Maker. It contains gedcom files and pictures.
- Howie, Howie, Etc. web page. This page is the entry point of a web site containing information on the families noted. It contains search facilities for finding names of interest (see left hand frame on that web page).
- Bedford page within the above set of pages. This is one particular destination page you can find. Note link back to main page. At the time I first found this page it contained a number of errors. It also contained a request for a volunteer to administer it. Updates to this page are done by email to the webmaster of the parent site.
- The Walter Woodworth web page. This is a fairly elaborate site, and uses a table for the menu at the top of the page.
Examples of where to set up an account:
- Homestead, website building and hosting. (Just one of a large number of such services.)
- Rootsweb, the parent site dedicated to genealogical web sites.
Setting up an account with Rootsweb:
- Requesting an account with rootsweb.com. This is the starting point if you wish to set up a new free account with Rootsweb.
Help:
- Help for beginning web authors. Rootsweb's help page for starting your genealogical web site.
- HTML basic instruction on Willowhill Webspace.
